Best of December: Best Sophomores
In the month of December, our HoopSeen.com team covered 12 major events on the East Coast. It was a jam-packed month of high-level ball and high-level prospects from all levels.
Tai Young, Justin Young and Daniel Paccione were at the ARS/Roter Rooter DC Classic, Gonzaga DC Classic, Bojangles Bash, Tournament of Champions Showcase, Hawks Naismith Classic, City of Palms, Emerald Coast 16, Crowntown Classic, Chick-fil-A Classic, Tournament of Champions Holiday Classic, Big Hoops Shootout and the Lake City Classic.
We look back on a terrific month of hoops and recall the very best of December. In this snapshot, we highlight the best sophomores we saw in the month of December.
Tai Young’s Best Sophomore: Cam Hayes, Greensboro Day (NC)
Can I call it a tie and give the award to both Cam Hayes and Joshua Taylor? No? Well, I'll give Hayes the slight nod as he crafted together points at a break neck pace. The CrownTown Classic provided the stage as the bright lines shined on Hayes' performance. There was a spooky calm demeanor that radiated from a player that's not that far removed from his freshman year. Watch him score a ton of points in high school in what will appear to be effortless along the way. The future is bright at Greensboro Day.
Justin Young’s Best Sophomore: Peyton Daniels, Tri-Cities (GA)
The 6-foot-1 guard had a great freshman year for the Bulldogs and continues to grow as a shot-maker and point producer. Daniels was trending at the Tournament of Champions with his perimeter play. He’s one of the better scorers in Georgia's 2021 class and was fun to see in action at Wheeler right after Christmas. As we look ahead to the rest of the regular high school season don't be surprised if we hear much more about Daniels in the months to come.
