#BOTS Five Takeaways from Day 1 from Austin Smith

With the annual Best Of The South tournament officially underway, here’s a brief recap of the action.

Orry Clements-Owens continues to make positive strides towards his recruitment. The ’19 point guard and his SEBA FCI Warriors started the night off at the #BOTS in a strong fashion. Their squad earned a win over behind the play of their floor general, Clement-Owens, who finished with 15 points and 8 assists. His craftiness allowed him to be a playmaker and he displayed deep range as a perimeter shooting threat. With the sidelines being filled with college coaches, his performance tonight added value toward his stock.

2021 Forwards Chance Moore(Game Elite 2021) and DeAnte Green(PSB Elite 15u) will be two younger guys to keep your eyes on in the near future. Both players have strong motors and the athletic upside to match. They rebounded the ball well and showed a consistent ability to finish in the paint. Moore held a 23-point outing vs. TNT Hoopsquad 2020 and Green had a 20-point performance against SR1-All-Stars.

Titus Griffin made his claim as a “sniper” in a big-time win for Nike Elite Stars. After only scoring 3 points in the first half vs. Memphis Prep, he went on a hot streak and tallied 21 points in the second half. He connected on 5 of his 6 made three-pointers in the second half.

SBC’s trio consisting of Donnell Nixon, Jarontez Garrett, and Sam Jennings combined for 45 points in a dominant win vs. Chattanooga Elite Gray. Nixon and Garrett held 16 points each. Jennings contributed 15 points of his own. The Suwanee-based program will look to carry their momentum throughout the remaining of their games at #BOTS.

Pro One Select won a nail-biter over Team South Carolina Red. Lead by the energy and hustle of Luke Reavis(16 points), their squad made a group effort to get the job done. Jonathan Sillivar was the leading scorer with 18 points. Vae Peters provided a spark as well with 14 points.

Additional notable performance: Deontae Carter(Sports Academy South) finished with 28 points in a win over HYPE 2020.
