News & Notes from the 12U/13U divisions of the #Gibbons

Killer Instinct: Win Miller

One of the most impressive players I got a chance to see on #Gibbons Saturday was 13U Birmingham Razorbacks guard Win Miller. He’s a tall, lanky player who causes problems for anyone he’s matched up with. I watched a talented Elite Strong team switch matchups on Miller time and time again, just to have him finish the game with a whopping 39 points. I’ve yet to see a player that young score so effortlessly, both in the open court and through contact. The most interesting part about him is that he does it all without cracking a smile. You’ve got to love the killer instinct in a player his age. Miller is definitely a player to keep an eye on as he continues to grow.

Cameron Scott is Here To Stay

Another elite scorer I got a chance to see was Columbia Hoopers big man Cameron Scott in the 12U division. Scott is simply bigger and stronger than most his age with a nice ability to finish around the rim. He cleaned up misses from his teammates and was able to create pretty much any shot he wanted on the floor. Scott went off for 28 points in a one-point win over God’s Property on Saturday afternoon.

Team to Watch: Da House 13U

A team that really stood out to me was a tough 13U Da House squad. They’re a well rounded bunch with a player on the team that can do just about anything that you ask. Zane Tipler is a small point guard with a ton of heart and a great feel for the game. He gets guys in their spots and knocks down free throws like a true PG. Zy Pryor is a bully in the paint and handles the ball like a guard. I watched him put up 19 points in a matchup with TNBA South that ended up being a really fun game to watch. LJ Hackman went for a cool 25 points on Saturday evening in a head-to-head with SBC Elite. He’s a bigger guard who can knock it down from three and finish through contact. The team has a solid core with players who have developed skill sets in certain areas that I’d like to see continue to grow. Keep an eye out for these guys from Da House.
