#Gibbons: Kory Keys Friday Notebook

By Kory Keys

Friday night's 16U division at Gibbons got started with a bang, specifically from squads like Team Charlotte, Georgia Stars, MATTS Mustangs, E1T1, E1T1 Heat, and Atlanta Celtics. When you looked around, there was talent everywhere.

Team Charlotte

- Team Charlotte had a duo of AJ Smith and Daniel Ransom that really set the tone from the outset. Behind those two, Team Charlotte will be a force to be reckoned with this weekend. Anjay Cortez showed flashes, as well, for Team Charlotte.

BCB

- Keep an eye out for Kalib Clinton. This was a kid I hadn't heard from or seen, but I was glad I did. Clinton is a big guard that made plays against one of the best teams in the 16U division. Circle his name going forward.

Georgia Stars

- Where to start? The Stars were impressive from start to finish behind Christian Wright, Jordan Meka, Nahiem Alleyne, and Samson Ruzhenentsev. It was Ruzhenentsev that led the way in a decisive opening night victory.

MATTS Mustangs

- Every time I looked up, MATTS Mustangs were getting it done. Dayvion McKnight, Trey Brock, and Matthew Taylor were the standouts on Night One.

E1T1

- E1T1 withstood an early push before separating themselves behind Zach Anderson and Marcus Niblack. Anderson is a ballplayer that you need to keep an eye on all weekend. If he continues to produce then E1T1 will have a shot to take home the crown.

E1T1 Heat

- Isaiah Elmore is the guy that stood out and likely put his name in the conversation for best post player in the 16U division. Keep an eye on him the rest of the weekend.

Atlanta Celtics

- Top to bottom, an incredibly talented squad. Down Odom (pictured above) was his steady, playmaking self, but the Celtics got quality contributions from Josh Taylor, Deivon Smith, Chase Ellis, and Jalen Myers. It wouldn't shock me if others on that roster jumped into the spotlight this weekend.
