US Amateur Nationals Friday notes
6th Grade- Wellington Wolves Blue 52, Inspire Atlanta 47
Really entertaining game between Wellington Wolves Blue and Inspire Atlanta that featured multiple lead changes. Two players in particular, Marvel Allen (Wellington Wolves) and James Tyre (Inspire Atlanta), were really impressive. Wellington Wolves also got a strong performance from Tequon Skinner.
6th Grade- Savannah Thunder 47, Suncoast Mambas 42
This was a game that came down to to the wire and ultimately decided by a key defensive stop by the Savannah Thunder. Larry Johnson fueled the Thunder, while both Kevin O'Donoghue and Jayden Dudash had strong performances for the Mambas.
11th Grade- Georgia Stars Milledgeville 83, Moneyball 62
Georgia Stars Milledgeville got off to a start and never looked back in a win over Moneyball. The Stars were paced by two guards, Devin Butts and Stevin Greene, who finished in double figures.
11th Grade- Team Strong 51, Tampa BayHawks 38
Team Strong pulled away late over a game Tampa BayHawks squad. Team Strong was led by Martavius Darden's scoring at all three levels.
5th Grade- Powerhouse Bulls 32, E1T1 Rebels 29
Powerhouse Bulls pulled off a come-from-behind victory over the E1T1 Rebels. The Bulls were led by Darius Washington III's playmaking ability. Isaiah Brown led the Rebels.
3rd Grade- Team Edition 57, TN Fury 20
Team Edition had a really strong early evening performance, due in large part to the performance of Daniel Marin, Nicholas Sanchez and Tari Miller. No doubt this squad will be one to be reckoned with all weekend in the 9U division.
11th Grade- WNC Big Cats 70, Active Elite Black 55
The WNC Big Cats and Active Elite Black matchup was a fun one. Both teams traded baskets for much of the game before the Big Cats got enough space to secure the win. Johnathan McFall led the way for the Big Cats with an array of baskets off the bounce.
11th Grade- Middle GA Supersonics 57, Dream Elite 46
Middle GA Supersonics got it done against Dream Elite in the evening session. Dream Elite was a worthy opponent, but the Supersonics had too much firepower behind Tye Fagan, Travon Walker, Cameron Traylor and Maurice Gordon.
