Live Summer Festival Night One Notes

The Live Summer Festival features some of the best travel teams from around the southeast, and the college coaches came out in bunches to see some of the best recruits from around the country. Night one was filled with some great talent from known commodities to emerging sleepers. Here are some of the takes that I had in my notes from night one:

  • How impressive was Da House? A complete team effort to kick of their week, and they did it as they have become known to: with a well rounded team effort. The Mississippi-based club was led by big man KJ Williams, who shot the ball well from distance and was a monster on the boards. Throw in impressive efforts from Tada Stricklen, Jondarius Warren, and Tyler Stevenson among others and you have a very dangerous team for the coming weekend at Best of the South.
  • Every time I see Each 1 Teach 1 2018 point guard Nick Honor play I like him more and more. He may not be the biggest player on the floor, but he brings a ton of toughness and
a fantastic skill level.  He currently holds a bevy of mid major offers from the likes of Mercer, College of Charleston, South Alabama, Furman, Florida Gulf Coast, and others along with offers from A10 schools such as Dayton, Fordham, and UMASS as well as an offer from Central Florida. I would not be surprised to see more MM+ teams jump on his board with his recruitment and maybe even a HM program or two.
  • A Georgia name that boosted his stock the most: Discovery & AC Georgia 2019 forward Leslie Nkereuwem. While he is still new to the game and is developing as a basketball player, he has very good natural abilities at 6-foot-6 with great length. He has a great knack for blocking shots on the defensive side of the ball and showed some good footwork offensively, but what is most impressive with Nkereuwem is his energy and motor that helps him in all facets of the game. Division I coaches should make note of this name.
  • Vincent Cole was very good for the Upward Stars, scoring in a variety of ways and connecting on all kinds of jump shots: spot up threes, two dribble pull ups in the midrange, floaters in the lane, and more. With his shot making ability combined with his size and length on the wing, Cole should be a popular mid major prospect in the southeast in the coming months after re-classing to 2018. Since decommitting from College of Charleston, Cole has added an offer from Georgia Southern and will certainly be a player to watch the rest of July.
  • An impressive backcourt for Nike South Beach led them to a big win over AC Georgia, who is arguably one of the best teams in the state of Georgia. Guards DJ Murray and KJ Simon were terrific at handling the ball and setting up their teammates as well as creating for themselves.
