#Gibbons: Top 13U & 12U Performers
Our Bre Singleton spent the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions weekend watching the next wave. Here are some of the players that jumped out to her at the 13U and 12U age groups.
13U:
Ryan Davis, Wellington Wolves Blue (pictured above)
Playing point-forward for the majority of the weekend, Ryan Davis did a little bit of everything for the Wellington Wolves. The big guy grabbed rebounds and took it coast to coast on several occasions and made the right decisions when necessary. Davis had several 20-point performances but his most impressive might've come in the championship game when he put up 26 and grab 10 rebounds.
Massiah Morris, MC Warriors
The MC Warriors have themselves a spunky point guard in Massiah Morris. In the Saturday night session, Morris led the team (16 points) to a huge win over EAB. He showed off his long range game as he knocked down 4 threes. The PG had another stellar game on Sunday, this time for the championship. Morris dumped in 17 points to help the Warriors edge Ryan Davis and the Wellington Wolves for the Gibbons chip.
Caleb Blackwell, Hoops 360-Red
Caleb Blackwell is absolutely one of the most consistent younger players to touch the floor every weekend. You could count on Blackwell for at least 20 points in just about every game this weekend, but by no means is he a one-faceted player. Steals and assists come naturally to the Hoops-360 guard as well.
12U:
Isaiah Collier, Atlanta Celtics
The Atlanta Celtics 12U team is a well-rounded bunch but Isiah Collier always seems to stand out. A solid all-around player, Collier knows when to get his teammates involved and win to put his foot on the gas. With a 23 point performance in the championship game on Sunday, Collier was undoubtedly the MVP. He got to the rim with ease, finishing through contact and knocking down free throws. This slasher will look to make some noise as the Celtics rise through the ranks moving forward.
Seth Fitzgerald, DCA 2023 Elite
When DCA 2023 Elite needed someone to make something happen this weekend, they looked to Seth Fitzgerald. In a strong performance on Saturday night, Fitzgerald made a home for himself in the paint. The DCA big man had his best outing in the championship game versus the Atlanta Celtics, putting up 18 points and snagging double digit rebounds.
Gabriel Omoregie, D-Elite
D-Elite always gets consistent scoring from Gabriel Omoregie. He had a great game Friday night, helping his team edge out Tea Wall Deep South, 59-55, and another on Saturday afternoon for another four point win versus Dayton Swish. The rest of the weekend Omoregie’s double digit performances and scrappy defense helped D-Elite cruise to wins. As his game continues to develop, it’ll be interesting to see how he continues to make defenders pay.
