All Stars in 17U bracket at NPS

The Georgia Stars 17 and 16 and under teams both won their way to the 17 and under championship bracket of the Norman Parker Showcase. Both earned the right to hold up the coveted golden trophy on Sunday afternoon at Suwanee Sports Academy.

But a gentleman’s agreement was set on Sunday that if both programs played their way to that point of the event than the game would be null and void, leaving the championship up in the air but at home within the Georgia Stars program.

This situation played out. The two teams won their respective semi-final games on Sunday.

The 17 and under Stars beat a feisty Stackhouse Elite team 62-51 in an excellent game between the two shoe company teams. The aggressive play of Rashun Williams, Jarius Hamilton and Mohammed Abdulsalem. The size was hard to combat in the end. The trio combined for 37 points in the win.

Stackhouse had four three-pointers from North Carolina sniper Kris Wooten and 10 points from shifty point guard TJ Stargell. Amari Kelly also pumped in 10 points in the defeat.

The 16 and under crew beat the Warner Robins All-Stars 83-68 thanks to the 1-2 punch of Josh Nickleberry (24 points) and Jaylin Williams (16 points).

The younger Stars were impressive all weekend with their size and depth, playing up an age division. Point guard Ashton Hagans was aggressive in the backcourt, scoring 11 and handing out several assists.

The Warner Robins run finally came to an end after a stellar weekend of play. The middle Georgia team had 23 points from Nelson Phillips and 20 from Jacolbey Owens.
