Senior Showcase team evals: Team 1
Our annual Senior Showcase was a great stage for some of Georgia’s top available 2017 players. Our staff of coaches and evaluators broke down every player from camp. Today we examine Team 1.
Trayvon Brown, 6-2, SG, Rockdale County - He showed that he can make the three and was reliable as an open shooter. An uptick of motor will help him develop his overall guard skills outside of shooting.
Canton, GA
Jadan Duggan, 6-2, CG, Greenforest Christian - The two-time state champ played hard from start to finish. He can shoot it when his number is called and quick enough to create space for his own shot and others. He is at his best when he is in score mode.
Michael Evans, 5-11, PG, Greenforest Christian — Speed on speed on speed. The Greenforest guard was one of the fastest players in the camp and attacked the rim at full bore. Evans played with a great sense of urgency at the camp and didn’t back down to high end competition. He was one of the best point guards in the camp, according to some of our evaluators and coaches.
Kendric Harris, 6-2, SG, Salem - Harris some New York in his game, meaning he was tough and played with great swagger. With continued coaching, he could be a capable scorer at the next level. Must handle the ball better.
Dejuan Hyde, 6-0, CG, New Creation - In a camp setting, sometimes the best thing to be is consistent. Hyde was just that. He played hard from start to finish. Hyde was at his best on the offensive end when he was driving to the rim.
Rahjae Jones, 5-10, PG, South Cobb - Jones played well as a defender and made sure he emptied the tank on both ends of the floor. He will need to work on handle and shot on the offensive end.
Antonio Martinez, 6-1, PG, East Hall - Need a toughness check? The seasoned East Hall guard has you covered. He defended well, took charges and wanted to guard the top opposing guard. Martinez was at his best in transition on offense.
Josh Scott, 6-9, PF/C, Southwest Atlanta Christian (pictured) - One of the most intriguing players in the camp because of his long 6-foot-9 frame. Scott was the best shot-blocker in the camp. Scott should have options to choose from after camp and when he gets to college, consistency will be the area of the most concern. Getting stronger will help the confidence and with confidence, he’ll be able to compete more from tip to final buzzer. Scott is a good pick and pop big man and started camp strong as a jump shooter.
Chandler Wright, 6-7, PF, Creekview - The 6-foot-7 bouncy forward was one of the best big men in the camp. He continues to get better and impressed coaches who were on hand for the action. Schools looking for an upside forward should jump into the race for Wright. He’s a talented player who’s best basketball is still very much ahead of him.
