Alabama Fall Preview: Team 8 Evaluations
We had a fantastic day of action at the Alabama Fall Preview on Saturday. During drills, game-play, and other sessions, our coaches and staff were closely evaluating each player.
Here is what our coaches and staff had to say about Team 8:
Related: Team 1; Team 2; Team 3; Team 4; Team 5; Team 6; Team 7
Jarad Brimer, 2018 CG, Haleyville: Brimer did a great job of controlling the game and tempo at camp The 6-foot combo guard handled it well and is fundamentally sound. He shot the ball at a high rate and was noted as one of the best shooters at the Alabama Fall Preview. Division II and NAIA programs across the Southeast will want to be familiar with this name.
Jared Sherfield, 2018 CG, Paul Bryant: Sherfield was named to our top performers list from the Alabama Fall Preview. Read what our staff had to say about him here.
Caden Davidson, 2017 SG, Coosa Christian: Davidson has good size on the perimeter for a wing. The 6-foot-3 wing is skilled and has a high IQ. He didn’t try to do too much on Saturday. He let the game come to him and made the correct plays for his teammates. Davidson had a strong high school season last year and we are looking forward to seeing him this season.
Dillon Harding, 2018 SG, Albertville: Harding passes the look test as a prototypical sharpshooter at the next level. At 6-foot-5, the junior can easily shoot the ball over the defense without being bothered. He has long range on his shot and is a threat to shoot just as he passes the half-court line. Harding also has a high basketball IQ and is a gifted passer. He’s already receiving a handful of college interest.
Myles Parker, 2017 SF/PF, Madison Academy: Parker had a great day and was regarded as one of our top performers from camp. Here’s what our staff had to say about him.
Mason Bragwell, 2019 PF, Belgreen: Bragwell made the trip down from Russellville and showed some intriguing attributes. The 6-foot-5 young post man is skilled and prefers to play out on the perimeter, but he has nice touch and showed he can shoot the ball from mid-range and beyond. However, he needs to get more physical and finish stronger around the basket. If he can add that to his game, Bragwell could be a load to handle at Belgreen High School in 1A basketball.
Jason Scott, 2017 PG, Austin: There isn’t many more fun guards to watch in our camp setting than Scott. The 5-foot-8 guard is quick with the ball in his hands and is a blur in the open floor. He sees the floor well and is an effective passer in transition. He understands the game thoroughly and makes the correct plays. Despite his size, Scott is a capable shooter from 3 when he gets his shot off. If he gets hot, it will be a long game trying to contain him.
Geordon Pollard, 2019 SF, Pinson Valley: Pollard showed great promise at the Alabama Fall Preview. The young wing handles the ball well on the perimeter and has some toughness to his game. He did most of his damage slashing to the basket, where he was able to convert at the goal with contact.
Hunter Binner, 2018 SG, Faith Covenant Academy: Binner was a quality marksman from behind the 3-point line. The wing has good size and the ability to shoot over defenses. He displayed a high IQ and didn’t rush or take any bad shots. He needs to get stronger with his ball-handling, but Binner is also a quality passer, too.
Micaiah Overton, 2018 PF, Paul Bryant: Overton made his presence known from the beginning, as the high-motor, undersized 4 man play at 100 MPH constantly. He was unstoppable scoring around the basket with his upper body strength and toughness. Overton has some athleticism and runs the floor well for easy baskets. He was a nice find on Saturday.
