Nike EYBL Atlanta: Georgia Storylines
The class of 2017 in Georgia is loaded, which causes there to be a lot of differing opinions on players and where they stack up within the class. This weekend at Suwanee Sports Academy, many of those players will be competing on the Nike circuit of the EYBL, including a much anticipated local matchup between the Georgia Stars and Southern Stampede. Here are a few things that we will be watching:
- Wendell Carter is the top dog in Georgia’s 2017 class, there’s no debate. However, where does he stack up nationally. This weekend when his CP3 team takes on Cal Supreme and west coast powerhouse DeAndre Ayton, who is debated as being the other contender for the top player nationally, we will get a clearer picture.
- Collin Sexton vs. Davion Mitchell. Get your popcorn ready because we have been waiting on this matchup for some time now. Sexton is the top scorer in the EYBL this season and Mitchell has had a very good travel season as well. As they go head to head, a player ranking might be on the line. This one will be fun.
- Rayshaun Hammonds has had a monster year on the EYBL with the Alabama Challenge. He falls among the elite high major players in Georgia’s 2017 class. How will he fare this weekend in his hometown?
- Plenty of room for debate in the class of 2018 as well. Jamie Lewis, Will Richardson, KJ Buffen, Mohammed Abdulsalem, Gabe Bryant, Trey Doomes, Rashun Williams, among others will all have a chance to make their case for where they stack up among their classmates in 2018.
