12 things I loved about Sunday's EYBL action

The games were intense on Sunday at the Nike EYBL stop here at Suwanee Sports Academy. Here are the 12 things I liked today…

1. The way Collin Sexton put his Southern Stampede team on his back in a major rivalry game against the Georgia Stars and drilled the game winner in overtime. He finished with 44 points in the victory.

2. The way he plays the role of the 2017 class’s version of Darius Washington.

3. The way Sexton gets to and delivers from the foul line. He was 18-20 in the win over the Stars.

4. The control that Quade Green plays with. The PSA Cardinals floor general was the best point guard I saw on the hardwood. How is this line in a win over Phoenix Phamily: 22 points, 13 assists and zero turnovers.

5. The overall production of Rashaun Hammonds. The Alabama Challenge forward was terrific. Not enough people are talking about what he did on Saturday.

6. Jordan Goodwin (St. Louis Eagles) and his defense against the high-octane offense of MOKAN Elite. Goodwin played a big role in Michael Porter, Jr. and Trae Young’s combined 9-27 shooting and nine turnovers.

7. The way Davion Mitchell came into his match-up against the Southern Stampede motivated. He shot very well and finished with 27 points and drilled four of eight from three.

8. The way R.J. Cole of the Playaz played against Team Final. Cole was lights out from deep (5-7 from three), good on the glass (six rebounds) and controlled the pace of his squad (six assists) in a big win.

9. The way James Beck played for Spiece Indy Heat against Team Penny. The 6-foot-6 wing from Grand Rapids made me a believer. Looks like a nice sleeper to chart in July.

10. The way Remy Martin of Pheonix Phamily has played all weekend. He’s been one of the best floor generals of the ATL EYBL stop.

11. The improvement of future Providence Friar Dajour Dickens. He's not the same player I first saw two years ago at the Vantage Hoops fall camp in Roanoke. Night and day. And the scary thing is, Dickens still has a ways to go.

12. The crowd for the MOKAN Elite game against Team Penny. I’ve never seen a crowd that deep before here at Suwanee Sports Academy.
