Top #ATLJAM 17U Performers: Part 2
The Atlanta Jam is an annual stage for some of the South's up and coming prospects to play in front of college coaches and earn a scholarship. We had a loaded field and now it is time to look back at our top overall performers. We continue with part II today. Meet the top dogs at the #ATLJAM.
Marcus Cohen, CG, Team Speights, 2017: Cohen was one of the top combo guards in the event and he showed it each time out. The smooth, slithery guard knows how to cut and weave through defenses. He has great speed and utilizes both hands very well. The 6-foot-2 guard is crafty and understands how to score and when he needs to score. His recruitment is just beginning, but he’s worth a watch for low major and mid major programs. - Garrett Tucker
Evan Cole, PF, Atlanta All-Stars, 2017: Cole capitalized on his huge spring with some solid performances over the weekend. The 6-foot-7 big man has a nice skill-set with some underrated athleticism. He displayed that athleticism, as he had a couple of tip slams above the rim off missed shots. He’s active in the paint and rebounds well, too. Cole even kept the defense on their toes by knocking down some shots from the perimeter. He has a productive weekend and justified the D1 interest he is receiving. - Garrett Tucker
Louis Dorsey, SF, Team Blueprint. 2017: We’ve come to expect certain things at our events over the years. One thing is this - Team Blueprint will be playing on Sunday and Lou Dorsey will be a big reason why. One of the most versatile athletes in the Atlanta Jam field, Dorsey is a rare breed that can play and defend all five positions at 6-foot-4. He’s strong, agile, quick and aware of what he can and can’t do. Dorsey was great throughout the weekend in every facet. Already a major football prospect, he told HoopSeen.com that he’s hearing from Illinois State, Florida International and Buffalo for hoops. He’d be a steal for all three of those schools. - Justin Young
Jaylon Hall, CG, Western KY Elite, 2017: Hall is a very intriguing player, which is obvious when you look at him as a 6-foot-5 combo guard. He is lengthy and has skills to run the point, as he is very shifty off the dribble and likes to find his teammates. However, he also scored the ball very well this weekend, namely from attacking the rim and using his ballhandling to get him into the paint, where he caused all kinds of problems for the opposing defense. Hall is certainly a sleeper in the 2017 class and is a Division I talent that could blossom into a very productive player of the course of his career. - Carter Wilson
Zach Mack, CG, Team United Nike Elite, 2017: Well, hello! Powerfully explosive, Mack had a number of plays that were absolutely jaw-dropping. And those plays were good enough to keep college coaches anchored in their baseline chairs for another game. Mack showed he can play well above the rim and knock down threes at a consistent clip. He was, at least for me, the biggest breakout guy of the 17U division over the weekend. Mack said his recruitment was flat-lined prior to the Atlanta Jam. Expect that to change. He was very good on the big stage. - Justin Young
