HoopSeen Weekly Report 01.27.26
Winter weather has hit the State of Georgia hard this week and we hope you and your family are staying safe. Over the past week our team multiple games including multiple MLK Day events that featured some great talent. Please see below on notes from our team over the past week:
BEST WE SAW THIS WEEK:
2027 Kyree Taylor - Greenforest: In a win over Kell at the Holy Innocents' MLK Classic, Kyree Taylor stood out as one of the top performers not only in this game but in the entire event. A 2027 true PG that impacts the game in a variety of ways that led his team to a blowout win over the Longhorns. Taylor finished with 26p 5a and not only led his team on the offensive end, but on the defensive end as well to add 6 steals to his totals. Patient PG who gets his team into their action and knows how to use his big men & shooters around him to create opportunities. Looks to be one of the marquee PG names in the 2027 class in GA and a kid to keep paying attention to.
2026 Anderson Carey - Walker School: Anderson Carey knocked down five threes en route to a game-high 20 points, serving as a major catalyst in Walker’s dominant 30+ point win over a solid Calvary Day School team. His shooting ability consistently stretched the defense and opened up the floor for his teammates, creating space for drives and kick-outs. Calvary Day simply couldn’t afford to lose track of him, as Carey made them pay every time they helped or rotated late. His impact went beyond scoring, as his presence alone shifted defensive coverage and helped Walker control the tempo of the game. - Mekhi McKinney
2026 Bobby Buggs - Dutchtown: In a win over Banneker, Buggs did a lot of the same things we've come to expect with his game. Runs the PG spot at a high-level taking care of the basketball. He pushes the break and gets the ball up the floor fast. Elite quickness that makes him a nightmare to guard in transition. Consistently shows the ability to score from all 3 levels each time we watch his game. Unsigned senior who should be viewed as a priority here in Georgia.
2026 Jalen Holmes - Westover: The 6'2" Albany State-commit Jalen Holmes has his Westover squad looking like not only one of the best teams in South Georgia, but across the entire state. After a win against Peach County, Westover sits at 18-1 with a large part of that success due to the play of Holmes. In the win, he shot the ball extremely well connecting on 4 3pt FG's including 3 of those coming in the 4th Quarter to seal the game. Along with his shooting ability, he's an athlete that is a lob threat that must be accounted for. Look for him to continue making his mark this senior season as the GHSA AAA State Playoffs are quickly approaching.
2027 Asa Montgomery - Hillgrove: Every time we've seen Montgomery this year, his game has continued to impress. Slashing, getting to the rim, & he made presence felt on boards in a win over Campbell. He added couple of put-back dunks and was a highlight factory with some eye-popping finishes at the rim. Effective defensively & looked the part as one of the top players in Georgia.
SENIORS:
Tatum Holmes - John's Creek: There's a certain level of production we've come to expect out of Tatum Holmes each time we watch him whether that be with SEBA this past summer or during his spectacular Senior season he's having with John's Creek. In a tight win over a pesky Lanier team, Holmes was again the spark in the offense. In the first half, he made multiple shots creating looks off the dribble and as the game continued on Holmes seemed always to be the guy to hit a big shot stopping a Lanier run. Another good performance in a W for a John's Creek team that looks to be one of the best in GA 5A.
Greg Williams - Westover: The 6'5" Wing has been a big part of Westover's success this season. Between him & fellow Forward Tykwavious Johnson (see next), they've been able to dominate the interior & own the glass against opponents. Williams is an athlete who has a good handle for his frame. In a win over Peach County, he showed the ability to score from the high-post & low-post. He also is comfortable attacking off the dribble from the wing and touts a quick first step that helps him get by defenders.
Tykwavious Johnson - Westover: Great size & frame for Johnson who holds down the low-post for this 18-1 Westover squad. 6'6" Forward who is long and athletic that makes opponents think twice before driving on him due to his shot blocking ability. Finishes well at and above the rim & a name college coaches should know down in South Ga if they're looking for size, activity, & athleticism.
Donovan Petidos & Ethan Minor - Chapel Hill: A backcourt that'll give opponents nightmares with how they push the pace and keep Chapel Hill in attack mode. They led the Panthers to a 66-41 win over Mays where both scored 11 a piece. They both get to the basket well and showed an ability to shoot the ball at a high level. Potentially one of the backcourts in Georgia that need to be respected more.
Agei Aguelet - Greenforest: On a loaded Greenforest squad, Aguelet serves as a key role player for the Eagles. Standing at 6'6", he does a lot of things well between his decision making, rebounding, scoring, etc. Although Aguelet may be looked over due to some teammates who are extremely eye-catching - he looks the part of collegiate basketball player that can come in and serve his role at a high level. Name to look for.
Jah'Siah Payne - Dutchtown: A real physical guard who has impressed on multiple watches by our team this season. Payne is strong & gets to the basket at will using his physicality to power by defenders and can score in a variety of ways once he gets around the rim. In a win over Banneker, Payne really stood out as a defender where he forced multiple turnovers and guarded on-ball well.
Jamere Martin - Long County: The 6'3" Combo Guard came out ready to play in a South Georgia battle against Ware County down in Waycross this week. Martin shoots the ball at a high level & went 4/5 from deep in the 1st quarter before added attention was sent his way. Was effective in using a ball screen to get down hill and looked comfortable with a one-dribble pull up from the mid-range. Coastal Georgia prospect to know.
JUNIORS
Reshard Slaughter - Lanier: On a Lanier team with multiple guards that can play at a high-level and stuff the stat sheet on any given night, it was Slaughter who impressed in a narrow loss to John's Creek. Ultimate motor type guy, great effort & demeanor towards the game. Hit 6 3's on his was to 24p total for the game. Moves well without the basketball & finds ways to get open looks. A name worth monitoring up the road in Sugar Hill.
Landon Grundy - Hillgrove: Very smooth jump-shot & a highly efficient player. Made the right play at the right time to help lead Hillgrove to a victory over Campbell. Expect to see more out Grundy moving forward alongside two high-profile players in Asa Montgomery & Bryson Jatta.
Daniel Gadsden - Lovett: The 6'6" Forward did a little bit of everything for Lovett in their win over Seckinger in the HIES MLK Classic. Finishing with 18p 11r 3a 4s - Gadsden's activity was eye-popping as his athleticism made him an impossible matchup for SKG. High-ceiling prospect that has continued improving as the season has gone on.
Tyce Curtis - Campbell: Got by defenders easily off the dribble. Good all-around scorer and finished with 21p in a loss to Hillgrove. Attacks the rim well that gets him to the FT line. Showed off his comfort level in the catch & shoot and generated the majority of the offense for Campbell in a tough setting where most of Hillgrove's defensive focus was on him.
Amare Temple - Seckinger: In a narrow loss to Lovett, Amare Temple impressed by finishing with 23p. Used his handle and quickness to get downhill to the rim and finished well once he got there. Creative finishing package on drives that allowed him to get around bigger defenders. Great from the mid-range off the dribble & hit two 3's off a catch & shoot.
Rowan Woodrich - Peach County: A South Georgia Forward whose name should grow over the next 12 months. 6'7" with a good frame and finished with 16p 13r 3b in a loss to 18-1 Westover. Woodrich stretched out his scoring to hit two 3's & showed he isn't limited to the post area. Budding postman out of South Ga that colleges should be tracking heading into the 17u club season.
Grant Robich - North Cobb Christian: If coaches are willing to look over his current height, they'll see a ballplayer who has consistently proven he is the heart & soul of one of the top teams in Georgia, North Cobb Christian. Robich is the engine that makes NCC go and plays with a ton of intensity & passion. With the ball, he handles pressure well & consistently put his teammates in positions to be successful. Defensively he's a pest that causes multiple turnovers. Unsure of what level Robich will end up playing, but whatever school takes a chance on him will be getting a winner & a competitor.
Tiago Lee - Mays: A baller. Lee plays with a ton of passion and intensity and looks like a player coaches will want at the next level. Explosive athlete, can do a lot of things well on the court. Drives strong to the basket & finishes strong at the rim. Can hit shots from multiple spots & is a threat from deep. One of the top 2027 names coming out of Atlanta right now.
Jordan Wiseman - North Cobb Christian: Athletic wing that impressed again in the Tucker MLK Event in a W against Jonesboro. Finishes well around the rim and plays with a ton of energy each time he takes the floor. Major part of a North Cobb Christian squad that has one of the best Starting 5's in the GHSA Private A-AAA division.
Xavier Butler - North Cobb Christian: Good, strong wing that gives a great post presence for North Cobb Christian. Projects to be a 3/4 at the next level, he uses his size advantage to bully smaller defenders on the inside. Finishes well around the basket and rebounds the ball at a high rate. Another 2027 at NCC that bulks up their Starting 5.
Peyton Moore - Carrollton: 2027 at Carrollton under new Coach Kenny Edwards that has thrived this season. Great engine & hustle guy who received POTG honors in a win over Fayette County in the Tucker MLK Invitational. Does all the intangibles and his defensive prowess is eye-catching & those efforts often created scoring opportunities for the Trojans. Showed ability to score from deep & is a player worth tracking out in West Georgia.
Alyko Raphael - Greenforest: The 6'10" Raphael continues to show glimpses of how bright his future could be on each watch. In a win over Kell, he finished with 6p 11r 2a 2b but his role went beyond just his stat line. Very comfortable within the offense for Greenforest & moves well for his size on the court. A must-see player for D1 schools looking for size.
Savion Stewart - Greenforest: Lit up the scoresheet in the 1st half in a win over Kell in the HIES MLK Classic. Scored all 13p of his in the first half & did a lot of other things to help his team in the 2nd in a blowout W where more scoring wasn't necessarily needed out of him. Good frame for his height, won't be pushed around by defenders & a great partner to Kyree Taylor in the Greenforest backcourt.
Lorenzo McCorvey - Walker School: Lorenzo McCorvey’s activity was contagious throughout the group and helped set the tone on both ends of the floor. His elite athleticism made him a consistent force on the boards, while his rim protection altered shots and anchored the defense. He was a one-man fast break in transition, using his speed and explosiveness to turn defense into instant offense. On the offensive end, he was a matchup problem, taking advantage of bigs who couldn’t stay in front of him. His playmaking ability was also on display, as he made smart reads and created opportunities for teammates. McCorvey’s energy and versatility showed up in multiple areas of the game and played a major role in Walker’s overall dominance. - Mekhi McKinney
UNDERCLASSMEN
Bryson Jatta - Hillgrove: Contributed 16p in a win over Campbell. Shot the ball well from deep going 2-2 from 3 and was dangerous in transition. Finished strong through contact converting multiple And-1's at the rim. Vocal leader who pushed his teammates in clutch moments to walk away with the victory.
Urhiyah George - Carrollton: Solid performance in a win over Fayette County for the 2028 Forward as he finished with 12p 16r 3s 4a for Carrollton. Makes it a point to be aggressive on the glass & his motor is worth noting for a player of his youth. Look forward to continue watching his development moving forward.
Calvin Goss - Jonesboro: PG that plays above his size in the 2028 class. Goss can shoot it at a high level but gets to the basket with ease and can attack the rim. Finds open teammates on his Jonesboro squad that has a lot of youth to be excited about. Can score with many of the best guards in his class & is more than capable of creating his own shot off the dribble.
KD Hernandez - Walker School: KD Hernandez did a strong job keeping his team engaged and under control throughout the game. He consistently got everyone involved, showing great feel as a floor general by setting teammates up for open threes off his drives and drawing help from the defense. Hernandez did a good job pushing the pace in transition, creating early scoring opportunities and keeping pressure on the defense. His leadership, playmaking, and ability to dictate tempo were key factors in Walker’s offensive rhythm and overall success. - Mekhi McKinney
Moo Moo McKoy - Ware County: strong guard, elite defender, gets downhill in a hurry. smaller guard but has sturdy frame - young player to watch for who was instrumental in their win over Long County
