Thursday Night Hoops Recap in Georgia 11.13

Tonight's edition of the Georgia Hoops recap features a few interesting games that can be a good gauge on where teams currently sit early in the season. We checked out the Boys & Girls matchups between Prince Avenue & Mount Pisgah but plenty of interesting games going on around the state.

This game was a dominant performance for Prince Avenue to open the season. 2028 Riley Reeder led the Wolverines with 20 points and looked the part as best player on the floor. She consistently attacked the basket which led to her getting to the foul line often. Reeder also showed off her range and ability to shoot with space. Good defensive effort out of her and the whole Prince squad in the big season opening win.

Prince Avenue jumped out to an 11-0 lead and things looked like they may get out of hand quickly due to a 1-2 punch from 2026 JR Foster & 2027 Brayden Smith. Foster was the glue guy that did a little bit of everything for Prince - deflections, steals, rebounds, diving on loose balls, scoring at the rim.

PG Brayden Smith led the offense in the 1st quarter by hitting his first 3 shots and finding Foster for easy layups at the rim. True PG with great vision who consistently gets paint touches and finds the open teammate.

2028 Carter King fought hard to bring the Patriots back into the game by scoring 18 points for Mount Pisgah. While currently undersized, King is a microwave scorer who let it fly from deep and hit multiple midrange step-backs. Sophomore to watch this year for a Pisgah team that will be improved from last year.

2027 Cardea Willingham was the main source of offense for Prince in 2nd half and ended up being the leading scorer on the day with 15p. Was great in pick and roll and found teammates open which led to him ending the game with 7 assists as well.

A longterm prospect to follow from Mount Pisgah is 2029 Marco Bucero who finished the game with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Marco is only 13 years old, sits 6'5" and comes from a professional basketball lineage. He looked comfortable out there tonight inside and converted 2 3pt shots that showed off his range. While on the wrong side of the result tonight, the kid is going to be a player.

Other scores around the state:

(BOYS) Marist 68, Dunwoody 61

Mays with a big early season statement over Paideia. Jack Sparks led the way with 10 points and 12 assists while 6'6" Jabari Hall dominated the glass with 18 points, 14 rebounds, & 3 blocks. The Raiders look to be a serious threat this season in Georgia.
