HoopSeen Weekend Report 11.17.25
Exciting weekend in Georgia HS hoops as our team was able to check out 10+ games over the course of the weekend. Here are some highlights of what our team saw:
DEADLY DUOS:
- Asa Montgomery & Bryson Jatta - Hillgrove
The Hillgrove community has a lot to be excited about over the next couple of years with 2027 4-star Asa Montgomery and top underclassman Bryson Jatta. Hillgrove improved to 1–1 on the weekend with a 66–55 win over Kennesaw Mountain.
Asa Montgomery put up a double-double with emphatic dunks and next-level shot-making. At 6’7 with a solid frame, it’s rare to find someone as agile and skilled as Montgomery who also plays with a high motor.
Bryson Jatta is the perfect guard to pair with him. He has quick-twitch athleticism, is a physical downhill driver, makes good reads when he gets downhill, and competes on the defensive end.
These two have a chance to do something special this upcoming year, and they have a strong supporting cast behind them. - Mekhi Mckinney
- Scott Moreman & Tyler Griffin - Starr's Mill:
The duo of 2027's Moreman & Griffin can put up a ton of points in a hurry if you're not prepared for their firepower. Moreman is a direct to-the-rim type of player who uses his strength to create advantages in the paint. He finished with an eye-popping 34p, 12r, 6a, & 2s all while only shooting one 3pt attempt.
Griffin, the more finesse player finished with 32p on 4/7 shooting from 3pt land. He moves extremely well without the ball and with the rock in his hands he is steady and plays without turning it over. Combined these guys made up 66 of Starr's Mill's 84 points. This 1-2 punch is going to be one to track all season long down in Peachtree City.
- Jahmar Maurice & Camden Smith - Woodstock
Jahmar Maurice and Camden Smith were as exciting of a backcourt as I saw this weekend. Maurice was in early foul trouble so Smith held it down in the first half. Smith plays with high confidence, he can score from all three levels, and he’s shifty. Smith finished with 16 points. Maurice took control in the second half with 13 points in the third quarter and 28 total points. Maurice possesses a mature game, he’s great at drawing contact and manipulating the game, he understands how to use his bump to create separation in the lane, and he knocks down shots on the perimeter. This will be a fun duo to track all year. - Mekhi Mckinney
Alexander Asserts Dominance:
Torian Greene – Torian Greene had a really impressive performance in Alexander’s win over Peachtree Ridge. Greene impacted the game in a variety of ways. We all know he can score it with the best of them when he gets going, but he also had a major impact on the defensive end in this one. He made several key defensive stops that ignited his teammates, and it quickly led to everyone playing with more pop and energy on both ends. Greene is one of the top available seniors in the state, and I think he’ll have real value at the next level. - Mekhi Mckinney
- Marquise Leslie - Charleston Southern-commit:
Charleston Southern commit Marquise Leslie came alive in the second half, scoring 8 points in the third quarter alone and making a big impact defensively. With his size, shooting, and defensive versatility, he’ll be a great fit in Charleston Southern’s system next year and a big piece in Alexander’s attempt at a state title run this season. - Mekhi Mckinney
- Jayden Crawford - Georgia Southern-commit:
Newly signed Georgia Southern commit Jayden Crawford is another Alexander guard who we know can really score, but he was impressive finding ways to affect the game without scoring in this one. Crawford was a pest on the defensive end, and he made strong reads with the ball in his hands, creating opportunities for his teammates. - Mekhi Mckinney
North Atlanta AAAAAA Threat?
- RJ Scott : RJ Scott looked the part of a solid college prospect in North Atlanta’s win over Riverwood this weekend. The 6’4 wing showed great feel for the game and put his athleticism on full display with a dunk on the baseline and another in transition. He knocked down three threes — two coming in the second half during a solo run that helped create separation for North Atlanta. Scott finished with a game-high 22 points. - Mekhi Mckinney
- Nehemiah Michael : Nehemiah Michael was on fire tonight — he simply couldn’t miss. He went for 20 points and was 100% from the field in the win. Michael did an excellent job playing within the offense, moving without the ball, and scoring efficiently. He also provided solid minutes as a secondary ball handler. - Mekhi Mckinney
- Jace Edwards : This was my first impression of 2027 guard Jace Edwards, and he did a great job controlling the game in North Atlanta’s win. Edwards is a shifty, crafty guard who is tough for defenders to stay in front of. He made strong reads when penetrating and operating in the PnR. I see a big season ahead for him. - Mekhi Mckinney
Underclassmen to track:
- 2028 Shane Goines - Mount Paran Christian : Shane Goines had one of the most impressive performances of the weekend with a 35-point outing. He did a great job playing within the offense while staying super efficient in his scoring attack. Goines has a smooth handle that allows him to beat defenders off the dribble, and he consistently knocked down shots in the mid-range and from three with confidence throughout the game. He capped off his dominant performance with a game-winning three from the top of the key as time expired. - Mekhi Mckinney
- 2029 Benny Crane - Lovett:
Benny Crane has made waves on the Middle School circuit and is showing that he can compete at a varsity-level early in his High School career. In a battle with Carrollton, Crane came off the bench to score 10pts in the 3rd quarter to bring Lovett back in contention headed into the 4th. The natural PG who is mainly off-ball due to depth on his team, has shown an ability to score through traffic, handle pressure, & hit big shots in tense moments. 2029 to track moving forward.
- 2028 Abu Jallow - Kennesaw Mountain : Jallow was another player I was seeing for the first time this weekend, and he’s definitely on my radar moving forward. The 2028 wing was very impressive despite the loss. He had a big-time matchup against Hillgrove’s Asa Montgomery and didn’t shy away from it. Jallow moves fluidly and has a long wingspan, which allows him to be a versatile defender. He also showed skill and solid fundamentals on the offensive end. He made strong drives to the rim and played well off two feet. His motor was also impressive, creating multiple second-chance opportunities for Kennesaw Mountain. - Mekhi Mckinney
Sleeper Alert:
Daniel Hollis - Peachtree Ridge: Hollis was one of the most intriguing prospects of the weekend for me. At 6’6, he showed a lot of promise with his overall versatility and elite athleticism. He checks a lot of boxes that college programs look for in wings. Hollis makes straight-line drives, has good feel and touch, and there aren’t many players who step on the court and play harder than him. I know it’s getting late on the D1 timeline, but I think Hollis is worth a look this school season — or you’ll wish you did when you see him at another program this time next year. -Mekhi Mckinney
- Kip Redo - Chamblee: Redo is an explosive guard who is a ballhawk on defense. He consistently was able to turn stops into fast-break points against Stephenson & pressured their defense with constant downhill attacks. He's great in transition and led Chamblee with 15 points in the win. Unsigned senior to keep track of.
- Jaylen Erskine - Collins Hill: Jaylen Erskine impacts the game in a multitude of ways. He rebounds extremely well for his size and defends 1 through 4 at a high level. He's a good finisher inside and was an excellent cutter in the half court on his way to 11p on the night against Drew Charter. He really shined defensively with 2 blocks in the 4th quarter allowing Collins Hill to pull away with the win. Jaylen is definitely a sleeper in Georgia and his motor is constantly going during gameplay. - D'Marcus Simonds
Post Player Highlights:
- Kamaree Mays - Carrollton:
Potentially one of the most slept-on high ceiling players in Georgia. Kamaree Mays has elite athleticism, great size & wing-span, & a habit of finishing above the rim on a consistent basis. Mays threw down multiple gym rocking dunks including an electrifying windmill on a fast break. While I'd like to see his ball skills improve as well as his activity, the talent is undeniable and is a kid JUCO's from across the country should be reaching out to for an opportunity to work and develop his game. Name to know moving forward out in Carrollton.
- Vincent Kray - Drew Charter:
Vincent Kray was a standout player for Drew Charter v Collins Hill despite the loss as he had 25 points & 7 rebounds. He was able to get to his spots and finish with consistency as well as knock down a reliable mid-range jumper. He has great footwork offensively and serves well as a paint patroller and a glass cleaner defensively. He's one of the more underrated recruits in Georgia but I believe he'll be a great grab for anyone that gets him at the next level. - D'Marcus Simonds
- Caleb Drummer - Forsyth Central:
Wanted to end this article with a congratulations to Forsyth Central's Caleb Drummer on becoming the 1st player in school history to eclipse the 1000pt mark. Friday against Northview, he showcased a well-rounded interior game and great production ending with 20p. He's got a sturdy frame, yet moves really well for his size and consistently created advantages with his poise in the paint and ability to get to the FT line. Drummer also flashed solid instincts defensively, jumping passing lanes for multiple steals and pushing the break himself for easy finishes while finding teammates for open looks. Big congratulations for a real HoopSeen OG, Caleb!
Great collection of players featured above. Looking forward to catching more of the great talent that Georgia has to offer this season
