Fall League Notes Pt. 2 (Week 1)
Part Two of our HoopSeen Fall League Notes has arrived. The gym was packed and jumping at Suwanee Sports Academy. Alongside the standouts highlighted in Part One, these additional prospects also caught our attention:
George Walton Academy
Jaylen Alston-Taylor showed the ability that he will knock down a three if you leave him wide open. He is built like a truck and uses his wide frame to his advantage on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Jaylen has a solid touch inside the paint but needs to improve from midrange from the game I saw. Very physical defender and was a vital contributor for George Walton. Look forward to tracking his progress for the rest of Fall.
Adrian Thomas was great tonight at initiating & finishing through contact. He showed an ability to get consistent paint touches and he was easily the quickest player on the floor. One thing I would like to see Thomas improve on is his pace, he showed that he gets sped up at times that causes turnovers. Solid 2027 combo-guard with a ton of upside for George Walton in GIAA.
Tiedrell Ansley showed to be a reliable guard for George Walton. He consistently made plays for others while running the entire offense for George Walton. He hit multiple threes off the dribble, and showed a great motor while fighting for every single loose ball. They might have lost the game, but Tiedrell Ansley plays like a winner. Dual-Sport athlete as he excels at Lacrosse as well.
Flowery Branch
Jack Huey is a very confident shooter off the dribble. The undersized guard utilizes his craftiness to find an open shot or open teammate. Very sneaky defender, akin to a pick pocket, sliding in at the last second to poke the ball free.
Williams Ramirez might not have started the game, but he definitely was the MVP of this game. Tremendous hustler by diving for loose balls, tenacious defender, and knockdown from three under pressure, even when the defender is closing out tight. Ramirez helped put the team on his back with his connective passing, two timely threes, and two vital steals to close out the game for a Flowery Branch win. Ramirez has everything you need or want in a competitive basketball player.
North Springs
Mani Corley initiated contact effortlessly and had a variety of counters for his defender, allowing him to get to his various spots. He had great coordination defending the ball, while also hustling for both offensive and defensive rebounds every single possession. He has quick burst and elite control of the ball in the paint which allows him to get to his spots. To close out the game, Corley stole the ball from the opposing guard and took it for a slam to seal it. Corley was easily my MVP of the game today.
Wesleyan
Ralph Sanders is an undersized forward for Wesleyan but is a giant bright spot for this young wolves group. It might not have been his night from deep, but Ralph kept his team in the game the entire time with hustle boards on both ends of the floor, downhill and connective passing, and stout transition defense. A ton to like about his game and motor.
Cherokee Bluff
Cooper Glover- The versatile lefty displayed extraordinary feel throughout the game initiating DHO’s and had the innate ability to find the open man every possession. Finished with 6 assists, only one turnover, and was the main catalyst that resulted in the rest of his team shooting better than 40% from three and winning by more than thirty. A big wing who is a decent spot up shooter from deep, has great vision of the floor, and is a physical slasher with the ability to put pressure on the rim.
TWU Elite
Jaylen Ivy ran most of the offense for TWU Elite tonight, and while he is on the smaller side, he demonstrated innate passing vision, knew how to control the floor, and consistently set his teammates up for open looks. He was able to hit threes when left wide open, and was a pesky defender due to his sneaky quickness. Passing is Ivy's main calling card though and someone to keep track of for the future.
