Fastbreak Friday: The weekend visit season is here!
Fastbreak Friday is back and we examine the busy weekend visitors from across the country. We explore the wide-scale view of all of the visits of note on the basketball recruiting front for college basketball. Let's dive right into it.
VISITOR OF THE WEEKEND
Tre Johnson, Texas: Well, does it get any bigger than this? The best player in the state of Texas will be on the campus of the University of Texas. The Rodney Terry era has been off to a great start and the brand is healthy in recruiting circles, with blue bloods and the in-state talent pool of the loaded Lone Star State. Johnson is one of the nation’s premier prep players and start his fall visit tour in Austin. They always say to keep a close watch on the first visits of the fall. And this is even his second official visit to Texas. So, you’ve been told.
MORE NOTABLES
Austin Swartz, Miami: The Hurricanes just know how to identify the right kinds of players for their program. The North Carolina guard was one of the biggest risers in the class of 2024 during the travel season and now he’s one of the most coveted.
Chase McCarty, Tennessee: Admittedly, he’s one of our favorite players in the class of 2024 nationally and it’s not a big surprise that his fall is full of visits to some power players in the hoops game. The Vols get first crack with the Alabama native who is now at IMG Academy in Florida.
PEACH STATE TRIPPERS
There are three players from the state of Georgia worth keeping a close eye on this fall. Braeden Lue will begin his fall tour with a trip to Missouri State for an official visit. He had a brilliant spring and summer.
Gicarri Harris of Grayson will make the trip to Midtown for an official visit to Georgia Tech. Harris has a full slate of trips on his personal calendar.
Micah Smith of Sandy Creek will visit Bradley, marking the first of what will be a busy fall for one of the most versatile forwards from the Peach State.
KEY IN-STATE VISITORS
It is always important to keep a close watch on in-state visits. These two are huge in-state visitors for these respective schools.
On the 28th, Kon Knueppel will make the official visit to Marquette. The top player in Wisconsin is also one of the most elite shooters in the nation. He may be the very best in that category.
Annor Boateng is the best prospect in Arkansas's 2024 class. He's a major target for the Razorbacks and history has proven that in-state players have a hard time turning down the Hogs. Keep an eye on Fayetteville this weekend.
