Fastbreak Friday: As practices tip off, more recruiting visitors of note

College basketball practices are tipped off coast-to-coast and some programs are going big this weekend for a celebration of the season getting started. That means recruits are on the weekend visit tour and seeing it all in person. In this week’s Fastbreak Friday we take a look at the notable visitors.

ACC

Clemson will have a chance to win over Florida forward Ven Allen Lubin for an official visit. The Tigers have been a player in his recruitment for some time and actively stayed the course with the productive interchangeable forward from Orlando Christian Prep. Keep your eyes on this visit.

Syracuse is bringing in Maliq Brown of the Blue Ridge School (VA) will visit Syracuse officially this weekend. The 6-foot-8 long and lean forward

Class of 2023 stud Matas Buzelis of Brewster Academy (NH) is the latest high-level prospect to make the trip to Tallahassee for an official visit. The 6-foot-8 small forward is one of the most intriguing players in the country from the current junior class.

Big 12

Late Night at the Phog is one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year for the Jayhawks and this year is no different. The calvary of top targets are making their way to Lawrence for the weekend for visits.

Three of the most important targets on the KU big board are scheduled to be in town for the weekend. Top 25 overall prospects Yohan Traore and Mark Mitchell will be checking out the season tip-off festivities. So will Memphis guard Chandler Jackson.

The trio makes up the most impressive group of non-committed players on a campus across the country. They’ll be hearing the hard recruiting pitch from current commits Gradey Dick and Zuby Ejiofor.

Trentyn Flowers of Huntington Prep will take an unofficial visit to West Virginia on Saturday. The class of 2024 wing is a high ceiling player to keep a close watch on this season.

Oklahoma will play host to hot target Rylan Griffen of Texas. The sweet scoring guard from the DFW burbs is one of the best remaining players in the top 100 from the class of 2022.

Big Ten

Nebraska has one of the best groups of players in the country on campus this weekend for the program’s edition of Midnight Madness. Headlining the group are juniors Chase Clemmons and Omaha Billew. Seniors Jamarques Lawrence and Denim Dawson are also expected to be in town. Juniors Chase Clemmons and Trey Green are, too.

Penn State has a good group of prospects in town. Evan Mahaffey, a 2022 commitment, will make his official visit. Joining him on unofficial visits include )

Logan Imes, Devin Royal, Jayden Ross and Braeden Shrewsberry.

Michigan State target Ty Rodgers is headed to East Lansing for an official visit. He’s one of the top prospects in the Midwest and a long-time target for the Spartans.

Purdue is bringing in Oklahoma guard Parker Friedrichsen for an official visit.

Class of 2023 forward Asa Thomas of Lake Forest (IL) will take an unofficial  visit to Wisconsin this weekend. The Badgers have already offered him a scholarship.

Pac-12

UCLA will play host to Florida big man Ernest Udeh for the first of his official visits. As a number of the blue bloods square up their classes with commitments, the Bruins have remained patient with the big man from Dr. Phillips High School. Keep your eyes on this coast coast visit.

Milos Uzan is in the final hours of his recruitment. The Dream City Christian guard is taking his final official visit and visiting Cal. After his time spent in Berkley, he’ll make a decision before National Signing Day.

SEC

Alabama has logged some time recruiting the IMG Academy roster, landing a big commitment from North Carolina point guard Jaden Bradley on Thursday. This weekend the Tide will try to continue to roll as Jarace Walker comes to town for an official visit. The teammates will be in T-Town together.

Adem Bona is a prime target for a number of programs, including the University of Kentucky. The Wildcats will have the motor man from Prolific Prep on campus for an official visit. He’s one of the most coveted players in the class nationally and sit in good shape with him. Keep your eyes on this one. UK commitment Chris Livingston will also be in Lexington.

There is a huge football game in Athens this weekend as UGA plays host to Arkansas for a top 10 slate on the gridiron. The hoop Dawgs are hosting a big group of prospects, including Cade Phillips, Isiah Collier, Kanaan Carlyle, Stephon Castle, Jakai Newton, Jelani Hamilton and Brandon Gardner. 

One of our favorite prospects from the class of 2024 - Jahseem Felton of Gaston Christian (NC) - will make an unofficial visit to Tennessee on Saturday. He’s in line for a big come up nationally this scholastic season.

OTHER NOTABLES

Utah State will host BYU on the gridiron and the Aggies are taking advantage with a couple of important visitors in Logan. Vegas forward Joshua Jefferson and in-state native Jordan Ross are both scheduled to be in town. Both are key targets for the Aggies.

Marquette has offered class of 2023 wing Cam Christie of Rolling Meadows (IL) HS and now host him for an unofficial visit.
