2026 Main Event Top Performers 2027 Division
Suwanee, GA - The Main Event is officially in the books. The three-day event at Suwanee Sports Academy was an event filled with some of the best independent teams around and also some top shoe teams for showcase games.
We’re kicking off our event coverage by looking at the top performers from the 17U division, headlined by some of the best overall players in the event.
Without further adieu, here’s our second installation of the top performers from the 17U division…
Chris Johnson, Shockers - There aren’t many scorers in the state who are smoother or more athletic than Jarvis Hayes Jr. His creation off the bounce sets him apart, as he can pour in buckets from all three levels while also making timely plays and getting his teammates involved. He makes plays on the defensive end as well, goes and gets it off the glass, and is an active on-ball defender. He had a few really strong performances over the weekend. - Mekhi McKinney
Miles Alexander, Tennessee Impact - The lead guard for Tennessee Impact was super all weekend long at the Main Event. Alexander is a 1,000-point scorer through two seasons at Cannon County (TN) High School. He showed that he can score with the best prospects we had throughout the weekend. He has a strong upper body that allows him to finish through contact in the lane and he can make shots from the outside with consistency. - Justin Byerly
Michael Hall, Hoop Savannah - Steady point guard with good decision-making who consistently controls the pace of the game. He has a very quick first step that allows him to get downhill and create advantages. He’s especially effective with his one-dribble pull-up from the midrange, knocking it down at a high level. What really separates him is his vision—he breaks defenses down and picks them apart by finding open backdoor cutters for easy finishes at the rim. - Mekhi McKinney
Peter Julius, Georgia Stars EYBL - The 2028 big and his Georgia Stars EYBL team played up in the 17U division this past weekend, and Julius was still a force. Julius is a high-energy big with good hands who provides elite rim protection and is a lob threat on the offensive end. He is a tenacious rebounder on both the offensive and defensive glass, while also setting the tone for the motor his team should play with. It was impressive to see Julius still dominate against some solid bigs. - Mekhi McKinney
Gavin Reed, Team Gold Coast – Reed led a Gold Coast group that’s loaded with next-level prospects. Reed is a floor general who can conduct a team with his savviness and confidence. He was great at operating out of the Pick and Roll, creating advantages by being aggressive and looking to score first, which opened up the floor for him to do what he does best, get his teammates involved.- Mekhi McKinney
His effort on the defensive end didn’t go unnoticed. He was a flat-out dog, forcing ball handlers to pick up their dribble, turning them over, and making it difficult for opposing offenses to get into their sets. Reed is a guard who will definitely see an uptick in his recruitment soon. - Mekhi McKinney
