2025 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champion 16U: Top Overall Performers Part I
SUWANEE, GA - The Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions is one of the most storied, prestigious platforms in the travel basketball world. Shoe-sponsored teams and independents meet and battle through the weekend until champs are crowned.
Along the way, the best players separate themselves. The known add to their resume while under-the-radar names emerge on the big stage. To stand out, to be a top guy is different at Gibbons.
We have so much to get into from the weekend, and it all starts with part I of the top overall performers from the 16U division.
Dylan Jones, Team Thad - This guy is a dog. He prepares before games. He walks around like he is going to work when he steps out on the floor and he takes care of business. He is a competitor. He never backs down from anyone in both events I have seen him at this travel season. The Memphis native is so much fun to watch play. He had an in-game 360 on a Sunday at Gibbons and he helped lead Team Thad to the 16-and-under championship.
In the semi-final win over the Tennessee Tigers, Jones had 12 points and 10 rebounds. On Saturday, Jones was much of the same, dominating the glass and scoring at will. To open the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, Jones scored 28 points on Friday.
Jones currently holds offers from Sam Houston State, Middle Tennessee State, UT-Martin, Tennessee State and Arkansas State. - Justin Byerly
Kobi Jackson, Tennessee Tigers - Kobi Jackson put together a couple of solid performances this weekend at Gibbons. He plays with confidence and burst, and when you combine that with his quick trigger, he’s the perfect point guard for this Tennessee Tigers squad—a team full of guys who know their roles.
Kobi not only knocked down shots but also did a great job getting downhill, finishing with both hands, and finding teammates for open looks. - Mekhi McKinney
Bobby Harpring, HoopAtlanta (Harping) - Bobby Harpring kept his steady spring going here at Gibbons. He showed he was one of the best shooters in attendance while also taking on the role of floor general for HoopAtlanta. Harpring’s ability to score off the dribble and hit tough shots from deep opened up the game for his whole team, drawing multiple defenders and creating easy opportunities for his teammates. - Mekhi Mckinney
Tyler Brown, Top Shot - Tyler Brown caught the attention of everyone who watched him at Gibbons this past weekend. At 6’8 with a long wingspan and a college-ready frame, he used all of his physical tools to make winning plays. Brown was outstanding at protecting the rim, blocking and contesting any shot in his area. He also showed promise on the offensive end with putbacks and quick post-ups. His mobility and athleticism made him a perfect fit in the pick-and-roll alongside guard Judah King. As Top Shot heads to Cincy for the live period, I believe Brown will come out a winner. - Mekhi McKinney
Kenzo Fugiwara, Team Work 2027 – Fugiwara was on fire from deep this weekend, recording two performances with 4 or more made threes. He did a great job moving without the ball and staying shot-ready when it came his way. In addition to his shooting, he brought intensity on the defensive end, helping lead Team Work 2027 to a championship game berth. - Mekhi Mckinney
