2023 Bama Jam 15U Standouts
HOOVER, Al—As we continue our look at this past weekend’s Bama Jam, we have to talk about the 15U division because it was a blast to follow. We had some guys show out and prove that they’re rising stars that we’ll be talking about plenty more in the future. These are four of the eye-catchers.
LionChaser U has made plenty of noise this spring. Guard Winston Waite is going to be a name to tuck in your back pocket for the future. He’s a bucket. Waite shoots the ball well from all over the floor. He hit multiple 3-pointers in each of their games en route to a team-high 16.5 points per game over the weekend. He has a stronger build for his position, so he can bully his way to the spots and on defense as well. I can only assume that Waite will have plenty of chapters in his HoopSeen story when it’s all said and done. - Josh Tec
Alterman closed his freshman season by playing significant minutes on a team that was one of the best in their classification. He’s carried that momentum over to the travel season with OTP National’s 15U squad. He helped lead them to a championship at Bama Jam at the PG spot. He’s poised, he’s tough, and he has a mature game. Alterman is a great facilitator who puts his guys in advantageous situations, and he’s a tenacious defender. There’s no backing down from him when guarding the ball, and he’ll make hustle plays that result in steals or deflections. - Josh Tec
It looks like Harrison Stewart could be up next in the Pro One program. The Spain Park (AL) guard can absolutely shoot the cover off the ball. On Pro One’s run to the 15U White bracket championship, Stewart averaged double figures and had several games in which he rattled off a string of 3-pointers. Pro One is a guard factory in the south, and Stewart is one to keep an eye on in the program’s younger ranks. - Josh Tec
Another LionChaser that impressed on every viewing was Zy’vaun Puckett. An athletic, longer guard, Puckett made a significant impact on both ends of the floor. He’s a disruptive, multi-positional defender who turns defense into offense. He can pack a scoring punch as evidenced by his 14.25 points per game. Puckett is automatic at the rim and showed that he is a more-than-capable 3-point shooter. - Josh Tec
