Team Takeover Claims 17U Grassroots Finale

The Grassroots Finale. The two best 17-and-under teams through bracket play. Baltimore Basketball Club and Team Takeover.

 

Baltimore Basketball Club pulled out to an early lead and with kept it until two minutes left in the first half, where they were up 30-21 on Team Takeover National. Patrick O’Brien pulled Team Takeover to within four, 30-26 with 1:27 left on a corner three. Jase Mosley connected on a three at the buzzer to end the half and tie it up at 30.

 

The second half was back and forth and with 8 minutes left, Pat O’Brien came away with a couple of baskets including a turnover that led to a huge crowd-pleasing dunk that had the bench up and roaring. Takeover built a 47-39 lead with 6:46 remaining in the game.

 

A strong bucket by Antwan Wilson brought BBC back to within two-points with 2:50 remaining. Steven Lamar went to the FT line for Team Takeover making 1-2, to make the score 53-50 with 2:37 remaining.

 

Team Takeover would get a three-pointer from Jase Mosley with 1:29 left in the game to take a 57-52 lead. Antwan Wilson for BBC comes right back and gets a tough basket and the foul to make it 57-54 with 1:05 left. A missed three by BBC led to foul shooting for Team Takeover.

 

Team Takeover holds on for the win, 59-54. Leading the way for Team Takeover was Matt Montano with 20 points.
