Cactus Classic: Top overall 16U performers part II

Who were the top dogs of the 2022 Cactus Classic over the weekend at Bell Bank Park in the 16 and under division? Our staff dives into the best of the best.

Andrew Bhesania, UH Elite - The 6’5” 2025 forward has the look that most college coaches and scouts look for in a hooper. Long, athletic and can stretch a defense by pulling the opposing big out to the perimeter with his shooting ability. Bhesania had one of the better weekends I have seen him have and affected the game in so many ways in each one of their wins, helping guide his team to an undefeated weekend while playing up an age group on their way to winning the 16u championship. - Justin Vargas

Quincy Everson, Firestorm 15U - Sometimes you just see it in a player. With Everson, was a net burner from deep and you could see his confidence in every possession. It fueled him to the tune of 14 points a game and had the ball in his hands in big game moments. In Arizona, there is a nice amount of depth in the underclassmen's backcourt depth charts. He’s firmly in the mix as one of the very best in the class of 2025 in the state. - Justin Young

Jeremiah Jones, The League - You could make an argument that he was the toughest player to guard in the 16U division. Jones had himself a weekend. Because of his attack mode, we saw Jones pump in 18.5 points a game. He was a force when he attacked from the wing to the rim. He’s big, strong, athletic and in constant attack. The 6-foot-4 class of 2024 prospect made his presence known in a big, big way. - Justin Young

Jaden Vance, Firestorm: From a ceiling point of view, Vance was one of those players that just gets me excited about what’s down the road. The long and lean guard was a nice mixture of production and potential at the Cactus. He’s a slashing scorer with big strides and good finishing ability. Defensively, he can cover a lot of ground and stop drivers with good footwork and length. As a scorer, he’s more prone to score at the rim but we saw a go-to jumper from three. At this stage, he’s stacking good days up and you can appreciate the path he’s going down and the player and will become. - Justin Young

Rhys Walcott, UH Elite- Walcott didn’t have his best shooting weekend by a long shot.  At times, he has the capability to string together a 3-day weekend where he is handing out buckets like candy being passed out on Halloween.  However, I did get to see a little bit of another side from him.  That when the ball just is not going through the net and it just doesn’t seem to be your weekend, he competed and continued to play hard.  That can tell you a lot about a prospect. - Justin Vargas
