Cactus Classic: Eye-catchers on Saturday

MESA, AZ - The Cactus Classic had a number of eye-catchers on Saturday at Bell Bank Park. Let's dive into some the players who jumped off the page in the 17 and under division.

Quincy Adams, AZ Firestorm 17U- The class of 2022 wing has a real knack for putting the ball in the bucket.  He has a crafty handle and gets to the rack almost at ease.  He is really good at initiating and absorbing contact and finishing through it.  While his outside shot could use some work, his ability to get to and finish at the rim is a D1 skillset. - Justin Vargas

Sam Horne, Run and Shoot (OR): Find a harder-playing guard in the field than the guard from Oregon. A week after a car wreck and an eyebrow full of stitches, he took a hard foul and needed to add four more stitches to his lip on Saturday. That didn’t deter him from getting back out on the floor and emptying his tank. Horne can be go-to scorer and was always in a position to be a threat as a shooter. Armed with a spirit of competitiveness at all times, it was not hard to appreciate his gamesmanship. - Justin Young

Ejay Scroggins, AZ Firestorm: The class of 2023 guard/wing was one of the more explosive and athletic prospects that were in the gym today.  His burst has a different engine behind it and he isn’t afraid to get above the rim and challenge anyone.  His game is really starting to expand to the perimeter instead of just being a transition threat like he was early on. - Justin Vargas

Mike O'Neal, AZ Spartans: The class of 2022 wing has the tools to be a nice player at the next level. He's a slasher supreme with good college length for a two-guard. He's smooth and deliberate in his attack. O'Neal plays in a manner that makes you excited about what the next two years look like in colllege. - Justin Young
