16U Standouts From Bama Jam
HOOVER, AL—One thing that has been a constant this season is that the 16U division has been deep with talent every week. This weekend in Bama was no different. Three from the 16U division have already been tabbed as top overall performers (Read PT II here).
Here are some more names from a loaded group that turned some heads over the weekend.
6-foot-3 guard Josh Williams is an absolute pure scorer from top to bottom. He has a great shot from beyond the arch and elite handles to get past defenders. There’s been so much growth with his game, he’s more patient, his shot selection is great, and he allows the game to come to him. Something that was really impressive was his ability to get to his spot every single time, not many players can do that consistently. Williams is no slouch on the other end of the floor either, he brings that same tough intensity on defense with his quick hands and has keen timing with going for the steal. - DC
I don’t believe there was a player I enjoyed watching more this past weekend than 6-foot-4 guard Adrian Wooley. Even while playing alongside a team full of studs on the Alabama Fusion squad, Wooley was still able to stand out with his incredible play. He can pretty much do everything on the floor; he is a solid shooter, can defend at all five positions, and is very explosive in getting to the rack. This kid can really jump out of the gym and will not hesitate to throw one down. Wooley plays with a high motor and can be unstoppable in transition. He wasn’t phased by playing up in our 17u division, he approached the game like all the others, and that’s to win. - DC
Gainer has been an absolute bucket every weekend this spring. Last weekend in Louisville he led STARS Basketball to an undefeated weekend with over 15 points per game, and he replicated that performance at Bama Jam. Gainer is a knockdown shooter that can get as hot as anyone in the gym. In STARS championship game on Sunday, he caught fire in the second half and helped lead STARS Basketball to claim both 16U bracket championships. The results speak for themselves. Back-to-back undefeated weekends, championship gold, and Gainer is at the core of the success. - Josh Tec
Spence Sims is a 6-foot- one kid that popped up on our radar at last year’s Alabama Preview Camp, and he left quite an impression on the Hoopseen staff, so you wouldn’t believe the excitement when we saw him at this year’s BamaJam. Sims is a highly competitive athlete whose ultimate goal is to win. He has a great shot from the three and can also put the ball on the floor, making great plays getting to the basket. Sims is tough, and once he gets going, it’s not a single person that can knock him out of that zone. With one of his best performances at BamaJam, Sims exploded, dropping 27 points in a 60-53 win over EAB Tennessee. - DC
Jacory Whitted is an absolute man-child on the court and at the first glance it’s hard to believe that this kid is only 16. He was a part of the 2024 Alabama Fusion squad that decided they needed more of a challenge and played up into the 17u division. They went a perfect 4-0 and Whitted was the guy to hold things down in the post. This kid has great size and is nothing but pure muscle. He’s an overall powerhouse around the basket and is a nonstop brawler fighting for boards. Whitted is a strong finisher and even with the added contact, it just seemed to be a non factor for this kid. - DC
