Alabama Standouts: Atlanta Jam
—The live period has finally jumpstarted, and we have provided some key players that represented the state of Alabama very well.
Here is a list of standouts from this year’s Atlanta Jam.
Alabama Standouts
After announcing to run with CP25 AL/MS red squad for the first live period, the expectations for 6-foot-2 guard JaBorri McGhee were truly high. McGhee wasn’t phased by the coaches watching from the sideline and put on arguably the weekend's best performance. It’s quite evident that McGhee can thrive from any spot on the floor. He takes great shots, can finish through contact, and has tremendous upside with his leaping ability. Not sure what’s next for McGhee, but it will be great.
-It’s always great to see big like Shelton State commit Logan Feltman. His overall presence around the basket makes any team look great. He portrayed some great moves around the post, showing just how well his footwork is. Feltman has a soft touch around the basket but will not hesitate to put someone on a poster. Defensively he’s a top-notch shot blocker, and his progression as a big will be well developed under Coach Eatmon.
-Xzayvion Childress is a 6-foot guard from Calera, Alabama, and he really emerged as one of the top guards at this year’s Atlanta Jam. He put up multiple double-figure games with All Alabama and was the front runner for their 3-1 record. Childress is quite crafty getting into the lane and has a great shot from beyond the arch.
-The Mobile Jazz has been on a tear since their arrival on the Hoopseen stage and 6-foot-5 forward Kamrean Johnson. He plays with a lot of power around the post, and he’s a monster going for rebounds on both ends of the floor. In his final game of the weekend, he dropped 21 points and pulled down a great number of rebounds.
-Patten Curington is a 6-foot-4 forward from Northridge, Alabama, and he had a pretty solid weekend playing for the T-Town kings helping them to a 4-0 record. Curington has a nice feel for the game and does a great job observing the defense before making a move. He’s very solid scoring in transition and has a great shot from around the perimeter. His rebounding is good, and he can also be a threat in the post.
-6-foot-4 two-way guard Demarreon Baldwin is as tough as they come when it comes to competing on the court. He can give major buckets slashing through the defense but can also be a threat under the basket. Baldwin is truly explosive, and his motor is nonstop. He put up 28 points at his best and snagged down six rebounds in their final win, leaving undefeated.
