Josh Tec's Atlanta Jam Notebook: Day Two

SUWANEE - Another day of the Atlanta Jam is in the books. It’s hard to believe how quickly these weekends fly by. Before we know it, 2021’s Atlanta Jam will be behind us. For now, let’s just enjoy some of Saturday’s highlights. Here are three notes from Saturday:

Double OT Action: In the 4:10 slot, Core 4 and PSB Elite Charlotte duked it out in a double-overtime thriller. PSB pulled out the win, 70-68, thanks to a made bucket by Shane Fernald in a sudden-death situation.

Fernald finished with 16 points to lead PSB. Core 4’s Micah Bell went wild from the 3-point line. He connected for six 3-pointers in the game.

Watching these teams battle back-and-forth was so much fun.

Kristian Shaw: Everyone has their list of guys that they have to stop and watch for a little while when they take the court. After watching him play with PSB Nashville at Bama Jam, I immediately added Kristian Shaw to my list.

Shaw is a high-upside player that simply wins. He’s a 6-foot-6 guard that does a little bit of everything well. When I’ve seen him, he’s hovered around 15 points per game, he leads his team well, he plays hard on both ends of the floor, and he just makes the right plays. When I saw him warming up with Stars Basketball, I had to stop and watch, and he didn’t disappoint. Shaw scored 20 points to lead his team to a 10-point win.

If you get the chance, watch Kristian Shaw.

More Kentuckians: On Friday, the Louisville Storm caught my attention. Today, it was Cave Gym Elite 2 and Manimal Gold 2022 that impressed me.

I caught Cave Gym Elite 2 first in their 70-52 win over 5th Quarter Athletics. In this game, Kai Simpson, Cade Hilt and Tyson Barrett were all bright spots for Cave Gym Elite. The trio combined for 47 points.

For Manimal Gold 2022, James Jewell and Kennedy Hayden have led the way. The duo led Manimal Elite to a great win over a tough BCB team by combining for 31 points. Manimal has been undefeated this weekend so far, and they have burst onto our staff members’ radars.
