16U Gold Best of the South Champs: Bad Boys

ATLANTA, GA - In one of the most spirited title games on Sunday, the Bad Boys National took care of business to the tune of a 69-57 win over Alabama Fusion 2025 to claim the gold 16 and under championship at the loaded Best of the South.

The first half was a bucket-trading battle but when it came down to it, the second chance opportunities paired with stops won out for the Bad Boys from Florida. There was a stretch from Matthew Curprew-Elsy on the glass that gave the Bad Boys the space on the scoreboard to never look back. Curprew-Elsy grabbed three offensive rebounds that resulted in second-chance points and sparked a big run. He was terrific in the paint in the title game. He finished with 19 points in the title game.

Point guard Casey Etienne was outstanding in the championship game. His athleticism, control and relentlessness was tough to defend throughout the weekend. He was one of the top guards in the 16 and under division of the Best of the South. He tallied 20 points in the final. Fellow guard James Saulsby shot very well from three off the screen and was a threat from deep, finishing with 10 points. Chalier Torres added 9.

As a team, this group has taken on a tough schedule and did outstanding work throughout the season.

For Alabama Fusion, the youngsters played up an age group and didn't disappoint. Guard Salim London scored 15 points. Backcourt mate Jacoby Hill also added 15. Their consistency kept the Fusion in the game.

Forward Ashton Magee added 10, including three three-pointers.
