Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions: Top 2025 Performers
SUWANEE, GA - The Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions was a lot of fun over the weekend and the depth was certainly on stage. Let's get into who were the top performers from the most historic stage in travel basketball.
In the instances that we’ve seen the guard from Kentucky this season, he’s absolutely cooked. You could argue that he’s been the best big-game shooter that we’ve seen thus far on our 2025 schedule. On opening night, he lit up the platform for 36 points along with seven made three-pointers in a back-and-forth battle with a great Team Swish club. Huff is a major value prospect because of his shooting skill set, overall basketball sense and classroom smarts. He’s a stock-up guy going into the summer. - Justin Young
This was my first time seeing a few of these Team Curry guys, but they definitely impressed. Maddox showed high-major potential as I watched him this weekend, with his combination of length, skill, and motor. At 6’7, Maddox did a little bit of everything, from running the point to moving to the wing, and he dominated every matchup he had. What impressed me the most was his unselfishness, and as I watched, he convinced me he could play anywhere in the country at the next level. - Mekhi Mckinney
The scoring comes easy for the Athens, GA guard. He’s going to pump in buckets with crafty and efficient shots. We’ve seen so many good guards suit up for the XPress over the decades and he should be the guy in this year’s 2025 class. Gillespie just keeps getting better and better every year. We have quite a storied history of his game and his development from one season to the next. The live periods that are right around the corner should bode well for the elite scorer. - Justin Young
Eli Finley was phenomenal all weekend en route to STARS Basketball Club UA Rise 17u Jaylen Brown bracket Championship win. Every time I got to see Finley, he had 18+ points, showcasing a combination of skills and fundamentals. Finley did a good job playing off of two feet after beating defenders off the dribble all weekend. He showed he could finish with the best of them, using a variety of finishes from floaters to either hand finishes. Finley really impressed with some of the next-level passes he made and his intensity on defense. This is a high-academic prospect worth watching, as he holds a 4.0 GPA and a 31 ACT. - Mekhi Mckinney
