2024 Fall Preview: Top Performers, Part I
The 2024 version of the Georgia Fall Preview camp is officially in the books and this year’s group came on strong on Sunday at Suwanee Sports Academy. With some high-level talent and depth, there’s a lot to digest from the action.
Following the event, we polled our coaches and staff on their top performers from the day. Meet the first wave of top performers from the event…
Mekhi Barber, 2026 WF, Lanier Christian Academy: Barber wasted no time asserting his dominance and athleticism on Sunday afternoon. The 6-foot-4 wing brings plenty of above-the-rim action — just ask those at SSA. Barber impacted both ends of the floor, whether it was making high-flying dunks on offense or pinning shots on the backboard on defense. He thrived in slashing situations where he was able to attack the rim on a consistent basis. The junior may have been the best two-way prospect we had at the Fall Preview.
Braxton Giesler, 2025 F, Milton: For what it’s worth, Giesler was my top overall performer from the day. The smooth, 6-foot-7 forward was a nightmare for opposing defenders with his well-rounded game. He showcased his ability to put the ball on the floor, finish with either hand, and step out and make contest shots. Giesler also competed at a high level and was continuously vocal from start to finish. I think he’s due for a boost in his recruitment as the high school season approaches.
Dillon Nixon, 2026 PG, Buford: Nixon impressed from the lead guard spot in a variety of ways on Sunday. For starters, he’s the definition of a lead guard. The junior wasted no time advancing the basketball and getting out in transition. He built upon that all day as he showcased his vision, understanding of the game, and passing ability. Nixon also kept defenses honest with his shooting ability, but I was more impressed with his ‘less is more’ approach. He kept the ball moving and picked his opportunities during gameplay. Sometimes simple is the best way to keep it, especially in a camp environment. Nixon deserves a feather in his cap for that.
Andrew Spearman, 2027 PG, Notre Dame Academy: There weren’t many more difficult defensive assignments at the Fall Preview than Spearman. The 5-foot-11 guard was as slippery as they come, making it a challenge for defenders to keep him in front. Spearman spent most of the day breaking down defenses and getting in the lane, creating opportunities for himself or others. The sophomore operated well in pick-and-roll opportunities, making the correct play more often than not. Spearman also made some acrobatic finishes around the rim, highlighting an impressive day.
