2023 Georgia Cup I: 16U Standouts
SUWANEE, Ga—When the spring turns to summer, the 2025 class will step into more of a recruiting spotlight. That means that getting off to a strong start to the travel season and building buzz going forward is important for guys playing in 16U divisions.
These are five guys from the Georgia Cup I 16U division that we’re going to be keeping our eyes on moving forward.
This BCB team was a blast to watch. They finished the weekend as undefeated champions of the 16U division. Brogen Casey was one of the stars of their run. He had a good weekend from the perimeter. He was a consistent threat from deep. He finished the weekend as one of the team’s leading scorers, but he didn’t force offense. We’ve come to expect BCB to have solid squads across the board, and this group proved that to be true.
Right off the bat, Joshua Harden was one of the first players to make an impression this weekend. On Friday, he popped off for 34 points in a win and kept his production at high levels all weekend. Harden is a long, athletic guard from Macon, and he plays with a high motor. He does a little bit of everything on the floor and started his spring with an eye-opening weekend.
BBA Red was tough over the weekend. They grinded out close games en route to the championship game of the division. Kilo Okeke had some great moments on their run over the weekend. He was clutch in their final four game when he dropped 23 much-needed points in a two-point win. Okeke is a player we’ll be checking in on more in the future.
Richards is a player that we liked a lot from the Sprinng Preview. He just does a little bit of everything when on the floor. He continued to impress at Georgia Cup I when he led Monarchs Select to a final four appearance in the 16U division. Richards averaged north of 15 points per game and continued to establish himself on the HoopSeen stage.
This is a solid SP Elite team that should keep getting better throughout the season. Their source of consistency came from Rayshun Williams this weekend. The Miller Grove sophomore was part of a good backcourt for this group. He averaged in double figures on offense while being aggressive in attacking the rim and connecting on shots from the perimeter. His toughness and willingness to guard shouldn’t be understated either.
