More 17U Standouts from Grassroots Showcase
Louisville, KY - The Grassroots Showcase held at The Kentucky Expo Center was filled with independent teams and shoe-sponsored programs throughout the weekend. The annual event we partner with Ohio Basketball was another success. The teams came to play and we took it all in. Here is a look at part two of Top Performers from the 17-and-under division.
Tristan Edwards, Team F.I.N.A.O. - Playing up in the 17-and-under division, this guy is a name to track. The class of 2029 prospect originally from Canada was one of the most athletic guys we saw over the course of the weekend. Now at Huntington (WV) Prep, Edwards spent some time at Wilson Academy in Georgia before going to West Virginia.
The 6-foot-9 forward has high-major athleticism, can stretch the floor with his shooting and has a long wingspan. He was dunking or trying to dunk everything he caught in the game we saw at Grassroots Showcase. - Justin Byerly
Adrian Wilder, Kentucky Ambition - The one-time Kentucky State commit has recently backed off that pledge and has opened his recruitment back up. College programs looking for a shooter should check this guy out. He helped his Kentucky Ambition team to a 2-2 record.
Every time he releases, it looks like it has a chance to go in. Wilder also showed he can get to the rim off the dribble and is always looking to score. He currently has some Division II offers. - Justin Byerly
Holden Smith, KBC NKY - Helping his team to a 4-0 record at our Grassroots Showcase, Holden averaged 18.4 points per game. He showed that he can score from anywhere on the floor with his consistent 3-point shooting and his ability to score near the rim.
He can create space off the dribble, get to his spot and knock down the mid-range shot. He has a quick first-step and can handle the ball. - Justin Byerly
JoJo Greene, Team F.I.N.A.O. - The recently reclassified guard was taking advantage of being able to play on the travel circuit again and showed what has helped him garner some college offers already. The 6-foot-4 bulky guard can score in a variety of ways and has the strength and physicality to post up smaller guards and score with ease. He can make shots from the outside consistently. He handles the ball well and can get into the lane from the perimeter. His play helped his Team F.I.N.A.O to a 4-0 record. - Justin Byerly
Lachance Burnett, Georgia Suns - While helping his team to a 4-0 record at The Grassroots Showcase, Burnett has size at the wing spot, defends the passing lanes, and can score from all spots on the floor.
He can guard multiple positions. Burnett scored 18 points in one of the games we were able to see. With his size and scoring ability, Burnett could be a guy that starts to get some looks at the college level going into his senior season. - Justin Byerly
