2022 Elite Preview Team 3 Evaluations
SUWANEE, GA—In keeping with our coverage of the Elite Preview camp, here’s a look at team three.
We’ve seen the Tennessee guard plenty in the past, and he continued his HoopSeen story on Sunday. Howard is a crafty guard with a nice jumper and the ability to kick the ball to open teammates. He’s quick, shifty and he can navigate his way to the rim without being overly explosive. He just knows how to get by his man and flummox defenses.
Despite being on the smaller, younger side of players, Huey turned some heads and used the platform as a way to make a strong first impression on people. He does a great job when it comes to picking his spots to attack as a scorer or make the extra pass. Huey is a good shooter and a good finisher at the rim. He’s a shifty guy who keeps defenders on their heels and is opportunistic when he gets guys off balance. With Huey and Vincent Wells as freshmen in the backcourt, Sekinger has two fantastic, young creators.
Cam Cherry was one of the eye-openers at camp. He’s the kind of guy that makes this camp so valuable. He wasn’t as well known as some others going into Sunday, but he made his mark and is going to be a player that people follow up with going forward. He’s an elusive guard who has a slithery kind of attack. Cherry handles the ball well and can create his own shot consistently, and he impressed as a passer too. He used his ability as a creator to set guys up with open looks, and he reliably made smart passing reads.
Among the most attention-commanding freshmen on Sunday, Pourchier established himself as a player in the state’s 2026 class to keep tabs on. At a strongly-built 6-foot-6, he has advanced size and physicality for his age. He pursues rebounds hard and is effective on the glass. Pourchier proved to be a corer around the basket.
Shannon is a strong, physical guard who thrives on and off the ball. He utilizes a good bag of moves to get to the rim. Shannon seeks contact when finishing and creates opportunities to get to the foul line. He’s a good mid-range shooter and will knock down the open 3-pointer. Defensively, he’s good on the ball and neutralizes the point of attack well.
Barbra has a solid foundation to work with. He’s a versatile, slashing wing who’s great at the basket, and he has enough skill to play on the perimeter. Barbra has the tools to be a high-level defender with long arms that shorten passing lanes for easy deflections and steals.
Ethan Carter was tabbed as one of the camp’s top overall performers. You can read more about him here.
