NextGen Preview Camp Top Performers I

SUWANEE, Ga—HoopSeen’s preview camp series is officially underway! It was a great way to kick off the fall at Suwanee Sports Academy. The NextGen events are always great for evaluating future stars, and boy, there were some of those guys in the building on Sunday.

As always, HoopSeen will be providing evaluations for all players that will either come from staff evaluators or the camp coaches.

Before we delve into team-specific breakdowns, here are some of the top overall performers from Sunday.

Lumpkin is a productive guard with size who impacts the game in a variety of ways. He’s a solid positional rebounder who plays with plenty of toughness. With the ball in his hands, he’s a smart playmaker who finishes well at the rim and routinely makes smart passes. Lumpkin’s vision impressed as well. Defensively, he has good hands and generates deflections consistently. He’s a name to know moving forward.

Kenneth Russell

It seemed like whenever I looked over and saw Russell on the floor, he was making a play. Like, every time. He’s a poised point guard that knows the game well. Russell is a smart player that utilizes his high I.Q. to impact the game on both ends of the floor. He reads passing lanes well and can intercept passes for easy buckets on the other end. Russell shined brightest on offense as a shot creator for himself and others. He’s a great shooter with range on his jumper, and he’s a more-than-willing distributor who sees the floor well.

Ryan Wingard

Wingard was the immediate standout in terms of physical attributes. He’s a guy that made people stop and watch solely because of his frame. At 6-foot-4 Wingard was the tallest player in the building and has the physical tools to be a successful wing over the coming years. He has overwhelming length at this level. Wingard is a tremendous wing playmaker and routinely pulled rebounds and initiated the break himself. When attacking the basket, nobody had answers for him. He has the makings of a special player for certain.

Christian Dixon

There’s no doubt that Dixon was one of the best players in the gym on Sunday. He’s an aggressive driver and attacks the rim hard. Dixon is a great and crafty finisher. On the other end, he’s a defensive stopper with the versatility to guard the opponents best player regardless of position. Dixon’s also a good passer with great vision. Overall, he’s an all-around impactful player.

Grant Robich

A top performer at the 2021 NextGen Preview camp, Grant Robich was back in the building for another year. The ultra-skilled guard reaffirmed what we saw out of him a year ago. He’s a quick guard with a tight handle, and he has a great feel for the game. Robich is a deadly shooter who gets his shot off quickly. He’s also tremendous in his shifty attack of the rim where he’s an exceptional scorer and distributor. He’ll be a point guard we’re discussing for quite some time.
