Georgia Cup III Top Performers Part II
Georgia Cup III was a fun weekend filled with some good basketball. 11 champions were crowned, and I got to see some players that I have not seen before. Check out part II of my top overall performers from the event.
La'Don Bryant, Savannah Greyhounds - The 6-foot-4 dual sport athlete makes an immediate impact on the game as soon as he hits the floor. His athleticism and length make it tough to keep him from getting inside the paint, and he utilizes his length on the defensive end to disrupt the offense. Bryant really shines in transition where he gets to have his strengths on display in the open floor.
Kamron Carryl, F.I.S.T - Carryl is a tough, hard-nosed guard that is not afraid to get downhill and get physical in the paint. At 6-foot-2, he has a stocky frame with a strong upper body. He uses that strength to his advantage against smaller guards, and it allows him to play with the bigs once he gets inside. Carryl is a solid on-ball defender, causing a number of turnovers throughout the weekend.
Micah Hooper, North Georgia Elite - Hooper is one of those reliable guys that you can always look to when you need a positive play. His consistent production was a large part of North Georgia Elite's championship run. While he is an undersized post player, he makes up for that lack of height with his motor and rebounding. He rebounds the ball extremely well for his size and has a knack for finding his way to open spots on the floor.
Jaden Stanley, Macon Kings - Stanley was one of the top overall scorers on the weekend. The 6-foot-1 guard has an array of moves in his offensive arsenal and shoots the ball from any range. He is a confident player that thrives with the ball in his hands. As good as a scorer he is, I would like to see him improve on his overall playmaking ability.
Brennan Wansley, Drill Academy - Wansley put on the best single game performance that I saw all weekend. I watched him go off for 31 points, knocking down seven 3-pointers along the way. He hit a ton of timely shots. Each time the opponent would go on a run, he'd hit a big shot to turn the momentum. This is a kid that plays with a ton of confidence, has a high motor, and can score it in bunches.
