BP's Three Things From the Georgia Cup III Day 1 & 2

The third installment of the Georgia Cup has brought some familiar and new faces to the scene. I've enjoyed watching kids that I have not seen play and checking in on those that I wanted to see again. Here are my takeaways from the first two days.

Dynamic Backcourts

I have seen a couple of dynamic duo backcourts in the 17U division. Available seniors Kawasiki Ricks and Raheem Swain make up the backcourt for A1 basketball, and man can they go. Ricks seems to just get to the rim with such ease; it is so fun to watch. The high scoring guard out of Columbia scored a tournament high, 35 points on Saturday. Swain is a senior that I am surprised is still on the board. At 6-foot-3, he has good size and can score it in a variety of ways. For the Georgia Stars HW, Naiser White and Major Freeman impressed on Saturday. In the first half in a big win over the South Georgia Wolves, White the basket was the size of the ocean for White. I watched three after three, and contested lay up after lay up go in. Freeman is a guard that just exudes confidence when he steps out on the floor. He will go at anybody that is matched up in front of him. He shoots it well from three and can create off the bounce.

Devin Story Stays Hot

Devin Story of the Atlanta Lightning is having just as good of a travel season as anyone else in the state. The junior guard out of Evans High School can score it in flurries. He has established himself as one of the best three point shooters in the state, but he has been showing his ability to get to the rim, too. Once he gets out in transition, he is tough to stop. Look for his recruitment to jump once coaches are able to lay eyes on him.

Livin Legends Elite Impresses

The 15U Livin Legends team has been on a tear all weekend. Winning each of their games by nearly an average of 15 points, this team has a good number of prospects to keep an eye on. Ian Hash, primarily, is a big one to key on. He plays with a lot of physicality and is versatile on both ends. Brandon Pruitt, Dion Williams, and Isaiah Lonon are also players to track as they continue through their high school careers.
