WNC has long been considered a football area but has seen their fair share of basketball talent as of late. Jordan Shepherd spent his time at Asheville Christian Academy before going to Oklahoma and now Charlotte. Caleb Mills also played at Asheville Christian Academy before a year at Houston and now Florida State. Ren Dyer who starred at North Buncombe is now one of the best freshmen ever at Carson-Newman.

He has held The Justin Byerly Upstate/WNC Showcase the past two years and has helped student-athletes from North Carolina and South Carolina receive college scholarships. He owns The Byerly Report scouting service that has over 100 college subscriptions. Justin resides in Asheville, North Carolina with his wife Danielle and four children.
