Senior moments: Exploring some of the top unsigned prospects from the State Preview Classic
We are at the point of the recruiting calendar where unsigned seniors are doing their best to make a great impression and college coaches are looking under rocks for those players who can potentially help their team next season.
Elijah Price, St. Anthony (pictured above): Of all of the available seniors at the event on Saturday, you could make an argument that the big man from Long Beach was shining the brightest in the spotlight. The 6-foot-9 big man had a nice day’s work in his team's 60-59 win over Capistrano Valley Christian. He finished with 22 points and roughly a dozen rebounds in the victory. The production was simple and exactly what you want from your post player. His length and game should transition well to the next level. Price said he holds an offer from Pacific while LMU and Cal Poly have shown interest. He’s visited UC Santa Barbara unofficially.
James Agany, Crean Lutheran: The big man is an active and interesting five-man who can run the floor and play above the rim with lobs and putbacks. He’s one of the longest players still left on the recruiting board nationally. Physically, he has the size to be a problem in college. Right away, he may be more of a player to develop than one who can help right away. He’s not bad as a pick and pop kind of guy.
Khemanni Davis, Rancho Verde: After sitting for the last 10 days due to COVID protocols, Davis came back with purpose in the morning game of the event. His energy and senior toughness helped fend off a feisty Oak Hills team in the day’s opening game. The 6-foot-3 guard finished with 23 points and did a fine job of leading his team in the second half with tough man buckets. Davis showed some serious grit in his first game back in two weeks. He said he’s hearing from Colorado Christian and Masters University.
Makaih Williams, Capistrano Valley Christian: Like a great boxer with a great jab, the 6-foot-2 guard just pounds his way into the paint with the dribble. Williams lived at the free-throw line on Saturday. He's a grinder who isn't afraid to get on the glass and create more opportunities for his teammates. Scoring comes easy for him and he's been consistent all season long in the scoring column. His game will translate to the next level.
Seydina Thiombane, Rolling Hills Prep: Thiombane, an active slashing 6-foot-5 wing, had a strong performance in his team's win against Saugus. He scored a cool 21 points and stayed active throughout the contest. His recruitment is wide open, he said, and would warrant a bump in activity.
