2024 All-HoopSeen Association 2nd Team
The 2024 HoopSeen travel season is officially in the books and, as usual, the depth of talent was fun and impressive. Our staff debated, deliberated and now delivers our Second Team All-HSA for the season. These five players came through in a big way for their respective team and program and stand at the top as some of the best players in independent travel basketball.
Ian Bush, Team Curry East - if there was a guy that was consistent all year long, it was Bush for Team Curry East. The 6 foot six small forward picked up a handful of division two and division three offers during the travel season. Is able to affect the game in so many different ways. He can score from the mid range, around the block and out in transition. He was a guy that bounds well, blocks Shots and does all the little things to help his team win.
MJ Harper, Judah Nation - Explosiveness and athleticism. That is what MJ Harper brings to the game each and every time I had the chance to see him. My first look at our HoopSeen Tip-Off and Harper caught my attention against Nike EYBL program The Georgia Stars. He looked the part throughout the whole game. Harper currently holds two Division I offers and should see his recruitment pick up some more going into the regular high school season.
Jordan Smith demonstrated complete interior domination on our platform time and time again this past year. The 6’8 forward used his combination of impressive footwork, soft touch, and strength to beat defenders throughout the game. At our Best of the South event, Smith had a standout performance with a 44-point double-double, including two three-pointers, which helped him secure a spot on our 17u second team.
Jeremiah Police - Police has been a notable name among our staff for a while now, and he continued to shine this past season for Florida Pro. The high-flying, versatile wing can score in numerous ways on the offensive end and effectively guard the opposing team’s best player on the defensive end. Police has always been one of the top players to watch with us, whether it’s for his highlight dunks or chase-down backboard blocks. You could always count on seeing something special from him. He is a member of the class of 2024 and committed a few weeks ago to Limestone University.
Toney Collins was one of the most college-ready guards who played with us this past spring and summer. His college-ready frame at 6’4" allowed him to power through defenders and get to the rim with a pace that often resulted in a bucket or a foul. There were games where Collins shot over 20 free throws, demonstrating the pressure he put on the rim and opposing defenders. He is also very capable of consistently knocking down three-pointers, which forced defenders to stay honest and allowed him to beat them off the dribble. In the next few years, I can see Collins becoming an all-conference player in multiple conferences in our region.
