Alabama's 3A State Championship Preview
Plainview Quick-Takes
The 3A State Championship is set to kick off tomorrow between two highly competitive squads, the Plainview Bears vs. the Winfield Pirates.
Both teams enter the state title game with 30 plus wins, and neither would lose a single game in their respected regions. A few key elements about these two teams are that they are very athletic, and the matchup is pretty even, making this game a must-watch.
Plainview finished the regular season as the number one team in 3A basketball and is considered the favorites to take the title this season.
In a semifinals game against Houston Academy, the duo of Cole Millican and Luke Smith ran the show putting up some great numbers from the field. Millican dropped 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Smith led the game with 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds, doing some great shooting around the perimeter.
Plainview moves the ball exceptionally well and knows how to use the cut to get easy baskets at the rim, making them a huge threat offensively.
Winfield Quick-Takes
On the other side of the region stood another team that finished as the number three team in 3A basketball and had their own one-two punch.
Tennessee Tech commits, and this year’s Alabama’s leading scorer Ja’Borri Mcghee was tearing the state up with his outstanding play. On the right side of him was Shelton State commit Logan Feltman, who averaged a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
In a faceoff against Southside-Selma, Mcghee dropped 36 points and grabbed an incredible 16 rebounds.
If Winfield is looking to take this win, they will need to slow down Plainview from getting inside and find a way to break from their pressure defense.
For Plainview, they need to slow down the offensive powerhouse of Feltman and Mcghee, also take care of the ball, and apply as much pressure as possible.
