The next senior to make their way off the board is 2022 guard Reese Gurner from Vestavia Hills High School.

You want to talk about toughness and grit, then Gurner is definitely the player a coach would want on the floor.

During his last ride with Vestavia Hills, Gurner played incredibly, helping his team to a 25-5 record, leaving his mark & the blueprint for the underclass.

Gurner averaged 15.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.4 spg, and now he’s selected to attend Christian Brothers University to continue his basketball career.

Heading to Memphis

Gurner expressed that Christian Brothers felt like home and was one the biggest reasons for his commitment.

“I’m from Memphis, so that is definitely back to my old stomping grounds,” he said. “Coach Reilly is the ideal coach that I want to play for, he values toughness, competitiveness, and hard work.”

Gurner says he feels like he can succeed playing for Coach Reilly and his program.

“I feel like I can bring Christian Brothers a few things as a freshman,” he said.

“I plan to come in and be a leader when I get there, I plan to work hard to continue to build the culture that is being built there now by the current players, and lastly I plan to win, on the floor, off the floor, and in everything we do at CBU.”

Gurner is scheduled to sign with Christian Brothers University later today.
