'22 Guard JaBorri McGhee Goes Back on the Board
Back on the Board
Earlier this week, 6-foot-2 guard JaBorri McGhee placed himself back on the board as he decided to officially de-commit from Tennessee Tech.
McGhee had a stellar senior season being one of the top scorers in the state. He averaged an incredible 28 points, and eight rebounds, and did a great job of facilitating with five assists per game.
McGhee led the Winfield Pirates to a trip to the 3A state championship this past season. Despite not coming away with the win, McGhee put up a dominant performance demanding respect as the best player in Alabama.
He was kind enough to give us some insight into what made him de-commit from Tennessee Tech.
“I just really feel like I rushed my decision and want to make sure I give a few other schools a look,” he said. “I want to find the best fit and somewhere I can compete for championships. I think there are some other schools where I can come in & help them do that.”
With the way the transfer portal is thriving for recruiting, it is understandable that a player would rush to commit. So far, no new schools have offered him yet, but McGhee has definitely sparked some coaches’ interest.
“I’ve heard from a few since making our run to the state championship game, especially after I decided to open my recruitment back up,” he said.
What’s Next?
He mentioned that many coaches have said they would be coming to see him play this weekend for the first Live-Period of the summer at Hoopseen’s Atlanta Jam.
McGhee says the portal is crazy right now, so he will see how everything plays out in the next couple of weeks.
As for some schools that have gained his interest, Samford, Jacksonville St, Murray St, LSU, Georgia, MSU, K-State, App St, and Maryland sit at the top.
McGhee will play for the CP25 AL/MS Red team this weekend.
