Randi Ovalle Commits to Troy University
Off The Board
Randi Ovalle is a 6-foot-8 forward and is by far one of the best college-ready players that I have seen all summer. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Ovalle played ball out west and now has found a home with Coach Eric Dudley at Success Unlimited Academy in Montgomery, AL
Ovalle has incredible versatility on the floor, is a quick and strong finisher in transition, has elite ball handles, and is quite dominant in crashing the boards. He has a nice pull-up jumper and can also defend multiple positions. He has the athleticism and physical ability to step on the floor right away and significantly impact a college team.
Earlier this month, Ovalle visited Troy University, a program that showed significant interest in him. He stated that his visit was pretty good, and he really enjoyed the experience.
The Commitment
On October 16, Ovalle fully committed to Troy University.
He was asked what led to his commitment to Troy.
"Well, I wanted to go to a school where I can get good minutes," he said. "I'm conscious that I have to work for it, but I think Troy will be a good fit for me and will help to develop my game and in the classroom too."
Ovalle stated that his relationship with coach Cross is pretty good and that he is actually pretty funny.
"For the short time that I've been around coach Cross, he has shown me love and interest," he said.
Goals
He was asked what he could bring to Troy University; this is what he had to say.
"My goal is to help the team to get better in any possible way and give them the best out of me too," Ovalle said.
After taking himself off the board, what's next for Ovalle?
"For now, I'm looking to get really in shape after the high school season and get used to the workouts that I'll be taking my game to the next level," he said.
