HoopSeenAL Spotlight: State champ Will Shaver

Will Shaver is a 6-Foot-11 big man from Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Shaver has come up big for his team this season, bringing home a State Championship.

He averaged 14 points a game and pulled down a great number of rebounds. Shaver is explosive with his scoring in the paint and has an excellent vision for finding an open teammate. Shaver is very effective with the pick and roll and understands the role of a big man.

He has great rebounding skills on both ends of the court. If a player does not box this kid out, it will be a long night because he’s all about fighting for the offensive rebound. Shaver has proved that he is not only dominant on the offensive end but can bring it on the defensive end as well.

During the regular and postseason, he was a player that could protect the rim, whether it’s stepping up to the front of the basket as the last line of defense or coming off the weak-side in help-defense. Shaver brought that defensive dominance in the championship game with three key blocks that sealed the win.

Shaver has already received a total of 13 offers from some top schools. So far, he’s narrowed the list down to his top nine - Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech just to name a few. Shaver has not fully committed to any school as of yet.

Shaver will once again suit up with Pro One Select on the travel circuit.
