2025 Bama Jam: 16U Top Performers, Part II
HOOVER, AL – Another Bama Jam is officially in the rearview mirror for us here at HoopSeen and like the previous renditions, the 2025 edition of action has plenty to talk about.
We’re continuing our event coverage by looking at the top performers from the 16U division, headlined by some of the best overall players in the event.
Without further adieu, here’s our second installation of the top performers from the 16U division…
Dennis Estrella, Hoops United: Estrella was on a mission all weekend at #BamaJam, putting together one of the most impressive scoring runs of the event. The Discovery High School (GA) guard led Hoops United (John) to a thrilling comeback win over the Mobile Hurricanes, exploding for 39 points — including 27 in the first half with four three-pointers. In another game, he poured in 37 more in an overtime win. With a combined total of 76 points across two games, Estrella finished as the event’s leading scorer and one of the top backcourt performers in the age group. - Mekhi McKinney
Aemero Lewis, Pro One UA: Lewis announced his presence on Friday night with a loud 30-point performance in Pro One UA’s opening victory. That was a consistent theme throughout the weekend as Lewis helped pilot the team to a 16U Black division championship. The 6-foot-1 combo guard showcased his ability to play both guard spots effectively. He made shots at a high rate while also providing relief as a ball-handler and creator/connector. Despite playing up an age group, the freshman looked right at home playing against older competition. He’s a new name to watch out for at Nashville’s Goodpasture Christian. - Garrett Tucker
Brendon Bradford, NC Premier: If there’s a rather unknown that jumped off the page at me from Bama Jam, I may have to say Bradford. The lefty checks a ton of boxes: he can shoot it, handle it, and pass it AND he’s a long, wiry 6-foot-5 guard/forward combo. At first glance, it looks like he’s still a work in progress and growing into his body. That’s true to an extent, but Bradford brings production to the table, too. The sophomore knocked down several three-pointers during the event and was able to keep defenses honest with his ability to get downhill going to his left. He’s eerily similar to former Vestavia Hills and UAB wing Jordan Swing. - Garrett Tucker
Tate Mitchell, OFW Galaxy: Mitchell made quite the opening impression over the weekend and he didn’t even have to score a point. Yes, you read that correctly. The Hoover (AL) guard impressed with his high basketball IQ and ability to create for others, highlighted by a number of assists each game. The 6-foot-3 guard did well in ball screen situations, where he picked his spots to score or sprayed the ball around to teammates for opportunities. With Hoover losing a ton of seniors off this season’s team, expect Mitchell to play a big part in the Buccaneers’ backcourt going forward. - Garrett Tucker
Dalton Black, Refuse 2 Lose: Dalton Black made a real impression at #BamaJam with his skill, creativity, and scoring ability. The 2027 guard was in rhythm all weekend, highlighted by a 24-point performance where he knocked down shots from deep, attacked off the dribble, and made tough finishes look easy. His jumper is smooth, and his range stretches the defense well beyond the arc. What separated Black from the pack was his pace and poise. He never looked rushed, played under control, and showed a deep bag of counters to get past defenders. His length and confidence with the ball allowed him to create space and finish through contact. A breakout showing for the young guard who looks comfortable playing up and making an impact. - Mekhi McKinney
