Murray State lands commitment from Kaden Rickard

2025 Madison (AL) Bob Jones guard Kaden Rickard announced his commitment to Murray State on Tuesday, putting the Racers on the board with their 2025 recruiting class.

”I felt like Murray State was the best choice for me,” Rickard told HoopSeen.com prior to his commitment. “I built a great relationship with Coach [Steve] Prohm while he was recruiting me and I feel as though Murray State gives me the best chances at succeeding and prospering at the next level.”

Prohm and his staff identified Rickard early on in the recruiting process before many other schools were aware of the talented 6-foot-6 lead guard. The Racers saw him for multiple games prior to Christmas last year, and, as Rickard said, cultivated an early relationship. They were also his first scholarship offer.

Murray State has a long lineage of talented guards that have suited up in recent years. While the likes of Isaiah Canaan, Cameron Payne, and Ja Morant are all noteworthy, Rickard comes from the same high school as beloved Racer great, Jeffery Moss.

”Coach Prohm has told me I can be a big part of this upcoming recruiting class. He’s coached some amazing guards that I would love to model my game after.”

Rickard has impressed throughout his high school career with his overall skill level and basketball IQ. He has a savvy feel for the game to go along with his elite passing skills, and that was one of the many things that intrigued respective college coaches. However, Rickard also showed he can score the basketball this summer, headlined by a big 38-point performance in June at the AHSAA Live Team camp with Bob Jones.

He also considered Belmont, Kennesaw State, Troy, UT-Chattanooga, Illinois-Chicago, and Lipscomb.
