Jake Dorough finds home at Montevallo
Montevallo struck early on the recruiting trail nearly two weeks ago when they landed a commitment from one of the better guards in Alabama, Cullman High School’s Jake Dorough.
Dorough, a fast-paced 6-foot-2 combo guard, landed a scholarship offer from head coach Anthony Komara back in May and decided the Falcons were exactly what he was looking for at the next level.
”I went on a visit and toured the campus and loved it,” Dorough told HoopSeen.com. “The campus is beautiful and within walking distance to everything. The coaching staff and the guys they have on the team are awesome people you want to be around every day. It really felt like and resembled Cullman, to be honest.”
Dorough has been a staple player at Cullman since his sophomore season, becoming one of the premier faces of head coach Stu Stuedeman’s ‘Chaos’ mantra.
He averaged 17.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists last season and earned second-team all-state accolades. Dorough also earned a spot in the North-South All-Star game, designed to showcase the state’s best rising seniors.
The highlight of Dorough’s junior campaign came against Lausanne (TN) in the City of Jasper Christmas Classic. He made ten three-pointers en route to 32 points in a big victory for the Bearcats.
The shooting prowess is one of the many things that have intrigued Komara and the Montevallo staff. He also has supreme ball-skills and has become more of a quick-twitch athlete in recent months.
Dorough is the first pledge in Montevallo’s 2025 recruiting class.
