Fastbreak Friday: Who's going where this weekend on the visit trail?

What a great weekend for basketball programs. There are a host of players hitting the road to check out the schools that have been recruiting them for a while. We dive deep into the Peach State and look at the players from Georgia and the schools within the state border in this edition of Fastbreak Friday.

CAMPUS OF THE WEEKEND: Georgia Southern

It is a big weekend at Georgia Southern as two of the program’s top 2020 in-state targets will be on campus. Melvin Edwards of Carrollton, the No. 17 ranked player in Georgia’s senior class, took his game and recruitment to the next level in June and July. The Eagles were there for the ascent.

Joining him will be Newton (GA) guard Caleb Byrd. The super scorer also had a great showing at the June NCAA Live Period events here in the Peach State. Byrd is at top 30 prospect in Georgia’s 2020 class.

VISITOR OF THE WEEK: Christian Fussell visiting VCU

After visiting Dayton last week, Greenforest Christian big man Christian Fussell is back on the road again this weekend. He’s currently on the campus of VCU for an official visit. The Rams were quick to offer the sharp-shooting big man. He has been one of the most intriguing players in Georgia’s 2020 class. Keep an eye on this visit. And keep an eye on his long-term development. Fussell has as much upside as any player in the Peach.

BIG WEEKEND AT GEORGIA TECH

The Yellow Jackets have a number of unofficial visitors on campus this weekend, including 2020 target Jordan Meka from local school Mount Bethel. The big man is one of Georgia's best post players.

There will also be a number of top-level talent from Georgia's loaded 2021 class. On The Flats this weekend are: Jusaun Holt, Chance Moore, Kowacie Reeves and Taihland Owens. All four players hold offers from the Jackets.

KENNESAW STATE HAS BIG TRIO ON CAMPUS

With 2020 commitments Chris Youngblood and Kasen Jennings on campus this weekend, the Owls are hoping they can help convince Brandon Stroud to join the KSU party. Youngblood and Stroud are teammates at East Coweta.

KESSLER KEEPS IT ROLLING

After being one of the most important visitors last weekend on the campus of the University of Michigan, Woodward Academy’s Walker Kessler may be the most-watched prospect in the nation this weekend. The five-star big man will take an official visit to Duke. He’s been on campus before the Blue Devils are in there strong with the skilled big man.

ATHENS IS THE PLACE TO BE

Dylan Cardwell will be on the campus of the University of Georgia this weekend. The McEachern center has been busy since moving back to the Peach State after a successful stint at the famed Oak Hill Academy. Cardwell is an important visitor for the Dawgs.

Also on campus at UGA this weekend are unofficial visitors: 2020 prospect Jalen Deloach, 2021 prospects Robbie Armbrester, Madison Durr, Garrison Powell, Isiah Nelson-Ododa and Cole Middleton and 2022 studs Zocko Littleton, Chauncey Wiggins and Chase Cormier

CLEVELAND MAKING THE ROUNDS

Matthew Cleveland, one of the South's best prospects in the class of 2021, will take an unofficial visit to Auburn on Saturday. The Pace Academy wing is one of the hottest players in the nation right now in recruiting circles.

GRECO GOING SOUTH THIS WEEKEND

Jacksen Greco was one of the best shooters from the Peach State over the summer. The Sequoyah guard drew a wide variety of college coaches when he suited up for the Atlanta All-Stars. Rollins College was one of the several programs that saw him at the Best of the South. He'll visit the Florida school this weekend.
