Demond Robinson makes pledge to Murray State

2019 Lee-Montgomery (AL) big man Demond Robinson made his verbal pledge to Murray State on Wednesday evening, he told HoopSeen.com. He also announced his commitment via Twitter.

"The reason I chose Murray State was because I was welcomed and it was a great environment," Robinson told HoopSeen.com. "I really got along with the team and during my visit, everything was about me. The players waited on me and included me. It really was a great environment."

The 6-foot-8 big man made a trip to Murray State's campus this past weekend. During the visit and throughout the recruiting process, head coach Matt McMahon and his staff made it known that Robinson was their guy.

"Murray State didn't recruit anyone else at my position. They were all in on me. That was big for me. They are losing some bigs going forward, so I said let's do it. I want to be a Racer."

Playing with the Atlanta Xpress, Robinson became a priority recruit for many mid-major programs throughout the country. While many programs extended scholarship offers, he ultimately chose the Racers over Troy, Kent State, and New Orleans.

With wide shoulders and strong frame, Robinson is the type of prospect that could give rival OVC schools a headache in the future. His ability to score with his back to the basket and his high-level rebounding will be a big plus for the Racers, but his improved ability to step out and hit mid-range jumpers is an intriguing aspect of his game. Robinson will be a big man that can command the paint for Murray State for years to come.

Robinson is the third pledge in Murray State's 2019 recruiting class. He joins Team Charlotte teammates Chico Carter and Matthew Smith. Robinson is also regarded as the No. 5 overall player in our 2019 Alabama state rankings.
